  • Self cancelling indicators 24 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I hate self cancelling indicators! I bemoaned the day when Citroen gave in and fitted them. On my old CX you turned on the indicator when you wanted it, and turned it off when you had finished with it. Easy. On every car I've had since, you turn it on, get half way round a roundabout and realise that its cancelled itself, turn it on again, and again and again.
  • '00 Xsara knocking noise when coasting 21 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Hi I friend of mine has a Citroen Xsara, which has recently started to develop a knocking whenever he takes his foot off the accelerator. It doesn't happen when torque is being applied to the wheels. It happens in and out of gear, clutch up or down.

  • VW advert gets up my nose 5 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Our very own Volkswagen Golf" So trumpets VW from the pages of this week's Auto Express. Without doing any research, the following iconic hatchbacks spring to mind. 1938 - Citroen Traction Avant Commerciale (OK, I researched that one) 1961 - Renault 4 1965 - Renault 16 1969 - Austin Maxi Naff orf VW and do your homework before you deliver me such drivel on my kitchen table.
  • bit late with mot- does it matter????? 19 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I know you can legally drive without an mot as long as it is to an appointment for it. Because it is a citroen it is going to a main dealer for service and mot and as something ALWAYS needs replacing it isn't straight in and out like a friendly back street garage. Is it a case of fingers crossed and hope don't get pulled between mot expiry and date of new mot ??????????
  • Ideas for multiplex wiring 31 Jan 2004 (Forum)
It really annoys me when drivers keep their lights on while chatting to passengers as they drop them off. 3, How about brake lights that go off after so long stationary, or a warning buzzer to alert the driver that they are wrecking their brake discs? Anyone got any more ideas? Maybe we will see some on the next big Citroen!
  • what to buy with £11,000 11 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I would only do 6,000/7,000 miles a year in this car, it really is to go from A to B (36 miles a day) 95 % of the time. Citroen seems cheap and cheerful but reliability an issue as it seems. Warranty Direct points towards Mazda (we have one already but too soon to judge its reliablity) but are they to be trusted ? I want at least 1.5 engine with air con.
  • Jazz vs. C3 autos 25 Aug 2003 (Forum)
We have shortlisted the Jazz auto and the C3 sensodrive. The Honda currently costs about £2500 more for a very similar car. I know Citroen don't have a great rep for service and reliability but I reckon £2500 buys a lot of taxis and rental cars. Car is purely for shopping and visiting mates. We don't particularly need the space which is the big selling point on the Jazz.
  • Car engines 3 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I have been looking at second hand cars and have found that different car manufacturers use other manufacturers engines engines. For example, Citroen use the same HDi engine as Pugs, The mini diesel uses a yaris engine, seat use VW engines, vauxhall cavalier diesels were suburu diesels etc. The question is: where can I find information about every engine which is shared with other manufacturers or can people post their knowledge of engines shared.
  • Anyone ever wish that... 29 Jul 2003 (Forum)
.....they had kept their last car rather than bought their latest one? I replaced my citroen ZX about a year ago for my current Mondeo. Don't get me wrong, I have had no problems with it at all since buying it but as my yearly mileage is only 6-7k I feel I am not giving it enough use to justify the increased petrol/ins/road tax costs, not to mention the depreciation, considering the ZX had more or less leveled out on that score and had given two years faultless motoring.
  • 16 valve zx 28 Jan 2003 (Forum)
this however does not effect the performance of the car, But wonder if anyone owning one of these vehicles would be kind enough to have a butchers under the bonnet of theirs & let me know where the pipe work leads to from the vacuun diaphrams & the ACAV system ? I have tried citroen head office & various dealers but they seem reluctant to release this information ? Hopefull J.C. Oxfordshire/Bershire
  • Skoda Felicia Engine Questions 17 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Hi All, I wonder if you can help me with a question about Skoda Felicias (Felici?). I'm seriously considering buying one after my Citroen ZX's demise. They look a great value little car. The Felicia comes with three engine sizes: 1.3 and 1.6 petrol and 1.9D. The 1.6 and 1.9 D are all well proven VW units. What of the 1.3? I know some of them are Skoda-built, but are any of the later 1.3's built by VW?
  • Another alternator problem 28 Jun 2002 (Forum)
This morning the battery was full of life although the battery light kept coming on and going off on the 50 mile trip to work. The car is a 1992 Citroen BX GTi with 82K miles on it; any clues, anyone? Darcy. Sudden prayers make God jump.
  • supermini choice 28 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Anyway I am after a bit of advice, a young lady friend has enlisted my help in selecting a new supermini for her. She quite fancies a Citroen Saxo and the current £5995 offer has taken her eye. However I feel that there are probably better deals or motors to be had for this sort of money especially as the Saxo is at the end of its run.
  • Damzel STILL in distress! 22 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Is it worth buying a car (however cheap) that needs work doing to it immediately. Other cars I have seen and would really apprecaiate any advice are: 2) Citroen AX 1.1, 41,000 miles £595 3) Ford Sierra LX, 1990, MOT. £575 Rover Metro 1.1, 1993, reconditioned engine (worries me a little), new radiator. Tax and MOT. 82,000 miles. £549. Any help anyone??!!
  • SAXO 16V VTS 12 Feb 2002 (Forum)
However as with all good problems it doesn't ALWAYS occur and so replicating for the garage is often difficult. Citroen upgraded the software load on the engine management, but still the symptoms persist. Has anyone else experienced something similar/got some advice on what to consider - aside from keeping the tank full of petrol!
  • Blatant advertising 14 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Set in France, it was basically just a series of good car chases, however I noticed that just about every make of French and German car appeared at some point, Citroen XM, ZX, Xantia, Peugeot 205, 306, 405, 605, Renault Clio, Laguna along with BMW's, Audi's and VW, all vehicles getting close up shots of their noses and grills complete with manufacturers badges.
  • Golf: good game? 7 Nov 2001 (Forum)
It's would be a '99T TDi 90 in silver with 50K miles and full VW history. Carview values it at £7.5K which would get me a younger Citroen Xsara HDi (my preferred choice) if I felt like spending the money. Anyone any experience of dealing with leasing companies? Any comments? Any idea of the Golf's real value in County Durham?
  • Blowing hot & cold 17 Oct 2001 (Forum)
SHMBO is the exact opposite, liking the heater to actually heat the car. That's all well and good until we're in the car together. I was excited to see that the new Citroen C5 may solve our problems in that it can heat on side of the car (SHMBO) and freeze another (mine). The argument she presents is that it can't do both at the same time. Has anyone tried this set up, and does it work?
