High Mileage Mondeo II 4 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hi there, I currently have an Audi A4, bu since the arrival of child number 2 it has become apparent that the A4 is just to small. A Colleague has a new shape mondeo which feels about twice the size inside of mine and I think would be more than adequate for my needs. -
New car for my wife 25 Feb 2004 (Forum)
It doesn't need to be big, as the Jazz is second car to a VW Golf TDI estate, shortly to be replaced by an Audi A4 Avant 2.5 TDI. But she needs comfortable, supportive seats. Possibilities are the SEAT Ibiza 130 TDI (maybe too hard a ride?), the Skoda Fabia vRS (if I can get her even to look at a Skoda!!) or the Honda Civic S (bigger than we need but not excessively so). -
Posh Estates 23 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I really want an umarket, high spec second hand (2 to 3 years old)estate car. I rather like the Audi A6, the BMW 5 series is good but I am put off that they are everywhere. THe Merc E class is just too expensive. The Saab 9-5 is very appealing but the fact that it is a Vectra underneath puts me off.Should I give them all amiss and become a Volvo V70 driver. -
A real specialist ! 1 Jun 2003 (Forum)
The garage concerned has an advert in our local rag boldy boasting: "Ultimate Sales & Service" Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Peugeot, Renault, Rover, MG, Vauxhall, VW, Fiat, Alfa Romeo Citroen & Volvo... SPECIALISTS. It's nice to know her car's being dealt with by people who specialise in so few marques and hence really know the vehicles inside out. -
Honda Accord Type R 13 May 2003 (Forum)
Hi Guys, I currently own a 7 year old Audi A4 1.8 but desperately need to get back to a sporty car. As the family is growing we need another 4 door saloon and the Accord seems to fit the bill perfectly. I've found a couple at main dealers around the £10k mark. -
Bargain Synthetic Oil? 16 Mar 2003 (Forum)
An advertisement in my local paper took caught my attention recently. It was for BP VISCO 7000 FE 0W30 fully synthetic engine oil £12 for 4 litres.I checked on the BP website and this oil was primarily developed for the extended change intervals with Audi/VW in their motors. My car a Primera 2.0 SRi uses 10W30 according to the Haynes manual but the handbook gives a range of oils depending on the climate.I use Havoline 5W30 at 5000ml intervals with my mechanic choosing to use Valvoline turbo 10W30 on it's 10000 ml service, The BP website given the details of my car recommended BP VISCO 7000 0W40.Probably a difficult one to answer but any opinions on the suitablity of the 0W30 oil or should I steer clear of what appears to be a bargain. -

1989 100 quattro check system probs 15 Oct 2002 (Forum)
There are no water or oil related problems which leads me to suspect that the auto check system itself is at fault? Any comments or opinions from Audi specialists would be more than welcome. -
Thinking of going diesel but new to it 2 Jul 2002 (Forum)
I've not had a chance to try one yet, but I'm just wondering whether these (or any turbo-diesel)can offer the same sort of performance when, say, overtaking, that a petrol engine does. The only time I've really experienced a diesel was as a passenger in a friend's Audi A4 2.6 TDi Quattro which, perhaps obviously, did perform well! Thanks. Richard -
Immobiliser problem 18 Apr 2002 (Forum)
I rang round for insurance quotes on my Audi, and managed to get £450 off the renewal premium. Problem is, the insurer won't cover me for theft unless I can tell them what kind of immobiliser is fitted, and provide proof of installation. So I took the car to a local alarm/immobiliser specialist, who told me they can't identify the immobiliser. -
"I don't beleeeve it" 21 Dec 2001 (Forum)
d: A club badge for the grille (and which club?) e: What car shall I drive (do I have to sell the Audi?) f: What's the maximam speed I'll be allowed to do? g: Do I need a caravan? ... anything else I should be aware of? Be afraid, be very afraid. (and be gentle). Stu. -
Spacious, reliable, low cost estate? 5 Oct 2001 (Forum)
She had dismantled her room to be transported and reassembled in Norwich, we just managed to cram everything in my Audi 100 saloon, by using 75% of the back seat too! She is bound to acquire more possessions so I am anticipating problems when it comes to clearing her room at the end of term, plus this will be on going for the next five years. -
Downsizing 28 Sep 2001 (Forum)
Had a difficult question from a client this morning - This guy has in many ways been ahead of his time, several years ago he handed back his company car and has since had various older large quality cars (BMW/Honda/Audi) charging the Company mileage for the business use of his private car. In view of the forthcoming reduction in mileage allowance from 63p to 40p his question was ?What sort of smaller more economical car can I downsize to, that is still appropriate for me as MD of an engineering company?? -
Audi A6 + RS6 (1997 - 2004) - Am I being ripped-off hideously or just going mad? 18 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I own a 2000 Audi A6 2.4 SE Avant which is great for 364 days a year, but then I have to take it to the garage. I know I have to stomach the expense and have to sort out insurance and tax in the next month, and need to get it serviced and MOTd now. -

I have a budget of £12k and have narrowed my search down to a few models which I would like some ideas on. Audi A5 BMW 3 series Mercedes E class Volvo C70 I recognise that with my budget I will get something at least 10 years old, but I have two excellent local garages, one of whom is a Mercedes specialist. -
