Volvo? - Comfortable reclining (?) rear seats 24 Apr 2016 (Forum)
My parents are looking for a new car with extremely comfortable rear seats (preferably reclining). They would prefer a smallish car (it is replacing an Audi A3) with 4 (or 5) doors for easy access and maybe a little higher ride than the A3. My mother is such a nervous passenger that they have decided she is better off in the back - but she has bad arthritis - hence the need for comfort as well! -
Allowance Vs. Cash help 20 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Hi there, Firstly apologies, an annoying question, but hopefully you guys can help so I'm looking on moving house and my mileage is going to go up and wondering if I should take the company car so current situation is to take the allowance: Allowance £7k (+ can claim business petrol) (currently own outright an mx5, that is getting old 100,000k miles on clock so probably due an upgrade, worth approx 4.5k) OR New Company Car (a bmw/merc/audi of my choice (within reason)+ free petrol card (work & personal) annual mileage est 30,000miles (50/50 business/personal) 40% tax bracket, any thoughts much appreciated, Thanks -
The soul of an Alfa with Hyundai quality and logic 26 Apr 2015 (Forum)
If we get some good ideas I could pass them on to Steve C. Clearly there are supercars that can do it - most Porsches and the Audi R8 to start with, But the debate will be more interesting if it's about more reasonably-priced models. I think my vote would go to the VW Golf GTI. Any other thoughts? -
4X4's - Used 4X4's a little advice please... 5 Jun 2013 (Forum)
Now that my daughter has bought a horse, she is considering buying a 4X4, she is selling her audi a3 and hopes to find something that won't cost a fortune to run as she will have to use it for work also. We have been looking at Mitsubishi Pajero's 2.5, 3 door. She needs something that will be able to tow a trailer. -
Reliability of larger diesels 10 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I have noticed that some of the larger diesels like the Jag 2.7 Volvo 2.4 D5 and the Audi 3.0 TDI as well BMW 730D seem to suffer less than some of smaller offerings by the same brands. Are these better engines in general with inherently less faults or I am i talking through my ..... -
Mondeo - £4K family car 8 May 2010 (Forum)
My head says a Mondeo but i want to treat myself and the car won't be relied on for commuting so day to day running is not an issue. I am tempted by an '01 BMW 525, an '02 Jag x-type or an '01 Audi A4 for the same money. I am aware of the pro's and cons of the models as they stand but my very specific question is, out of these 3, which is the best (and which is the worst) for parts and servicing prices, bearing in mind i will be fully comp as far as any bodywork parts are concerned. -
Volkswagen Polo IV (2005 - 2009) - Variable Servicing or not? 10 Feb 2010 (Forum)
(it has done 11k) Is there are easy way to tell if it?s on standard servicing or variable. I used to have an Audi A4 and on that you pushed a ?spanner? button on the dash and it told you when the next service was due. Does the Polo have a similar set-up? Many thanks -
ABS - contradiction 12 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Conducted a test this weekend on some very hard compacted snow with my 2003 Passat (normal tyres) and my brother's Audi A5 (winter tyres) to see whether there was actually a noticeable difference in stopping times. Not that surprisingly, the A5 with winter tyres stopped in almost half the distance my Passat took. However, when watching I was puzzled by what I feel through the brake pedal and what I see at the wheel. -
A very big thank you to you all! 18 May 2009 (Forum)
Between me and my husband we have 3 cars and neither of us are very good at mechanics and looking at other posts, we have also learned something else regarding water in footwells in Audi's which we have also suffered, so something else learnt. Many many thanks to all my new friends! -
Thoughts on DRLs (Day Running Lights) 3 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I've read threads about use of sidelights in poor visibility, which I think DRL's address quite nicely, though there fitment to my car was purely incidental. I noticed Fiat 500's, and many Volvo's & BMW's, and of course all those Audi led ones. Mind a lot of the Beemers seem to drive with lights on in daytime. I think they just like to pose with those "angel eyes" lights. -
Do car adverts work 20 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Is it me - i.e. why should I be amazed at the price when the cars are actually nothing special and never score highly in an surveys. Yet I also like Audi ads so I it's not VAG bashing. -
Which convertible ? 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)

SEAT Ibiza IV (2008 - ) - New SEAT looks like a Datsun Cherry 1 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I know they had to rush a mid range saloon to market after the awful Toledo bombed, so they rehashed the Audi A4, that I can understand, but where did SEAT acquire the rights to the Datsun Cherry design ? -

Lease car prices 23 May 2008 (Forum)
And I'm guessing emissions and "green" credentials will keep the cost down because of the tax. A recent example would be one of her colleagues who got an Audi A3 1.9 TDI for £150 a month all in (tax, servicing, insurance). Any tips on which way to go? Many thanks -
recommend me a diesel estate 18 Dec 2007 (Forum)
The budget suggest a highish mileage ex fleet car with FSH etc I probably prefer a prestige make Audi Saab Volvo BMW etc rather than the Ford Vauxhall offerings but not ruling anything out. Reliability performace and handling are key. No smaller than and A4/ Octavia size. Thanks -
Thinking of ending love affair (with Boxster) 20 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I love the image of the car & the way it drives etc but I'm wondering (semi-seriously this time) whether I should quickly part-ex it for an Audi TT 225 (convertible if poss)/ A3 3.2 / Nissan 350z (import) at about 4-5 years old with 40k-60k miles on - question is, will these be more in line with my needs for paranoia-free reliable motoring, or is any performance car at 5 years old likely to throw up expensive issues? -
W12 Phaeton 9 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I rather fancy a W12 6.0 (not LWB) with the massaging seats, etc. These are currently about £28k for an 04 plate (which is still £10k less than the Audi A8 6.0). I'd like to pay half of that. Any ideas how long I'll be waiting? And surely a handcrafted (nice factory: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1837641) Phaeton with high-quality interior trim will look/run better at 6 years than say a 3-series (same price?) -
JD Power survey 2007 results 19 May 2007 (Forum)
Ford is the Fusion. 2) Merc A-Class beats every single Subaru. 3) In the manufactuer's league table, Jaguar beats Audi, BMW, Mercedes, & Volvo . . . and they all beat Subaru (who are in the middle of the table with Nissan, Kia, and Ford.) -
Just filled RS4 with diesel... help 12 May 2007 (Forum)
Car still starts and runs but sounds a very clattery and is belting out smoke like noones business...... should I drive it to the petrol station 15 miles away and fill to the brim with petrol to dilite the diesel, or call Audi out (presumably they will charge to syphon the tank?).
