  • Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 2000 2.0HDi cam belt tensioning 16 May 2008 (Forum)
Just read an old post regarding cam belt tensioning on a Peugeot 406 2 litre hdi. I was looking to buy a tool to do mine but after reading the comments, realise that I maybe don't really need one. Can anyone confirm that the 5mm deflection with firm thumb pressure is sufficient?
  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 98 1.9td cam belt and tensioner 5 Apr 2008 (Forum)
My ageing peugeot 406 1.9 td 1998 has developed a rattle i have been told its the cam tensioner thats about to give up. Im a reasonable mechanic and i would like to have a crack at repairing this myself and changing the belt at the same time.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 - HDI Diesel that kangeroos in the wet 15 Jan 2008 (Forum)
As soon as it gets wet, the engine management light comes on and the engine split second cuts out intermittently when driving. Fine when idling. Local Peugeot dealer states replace some sensor on the fuel pump at a cost of £500. Surely if the sensor was faulty it would do it ALL the time not just when it's wet. The dealer re-sets the management light and the engine runs fine again.
  • Peugeot 406HDi Economy 24 Jul 2007 (Forum)
2002 Peugeot 406HDi on 121,000. I?m struggling to get over 40mpg. Even on a long run to Cornwall from the North West I achieved 45mpg at a steady 70mph. My usual daily use is a mix of motorway, A roads and town centre ?
  • Peugeot Partner noisey bush? 26 Jan 2007 (Forum)
A friend has a car Peugeot Partner Diesel. There is a knocking sound from driverside front wheel, over bumps in the road. My diagnosis a worn bush. I had 3 minutes look underneath with the wheel raised a bit - couldn't see anything especially obvious, I did notice the wishbone arm, but could not see any thing obviously wrong with those two bushes and the one on the wheel bracket looked ok too.
  • Peugeot 307 Diesel Addative 8 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Prices ranged from about £19.00 for a litre. However, we couldn't find a supplier. Eventually, after parting with well over £100.00, Peugeot kindly gave him 3 litres. (The tank holds 5 litres) Does anyone know where this elixir can be purchased from, and is it easy to get into the tank, once obtained. Thanks in advance, Urban.
  • What falls off Peugeot 806 SVDT? 4 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Hi, looking for any thoughts on the longeivity of the good old Peugeot 806 SVDT - 1998 model with 98k for £3395 private sale. Anyone got any useful thoughts? We have a small car for town, and are looking for something in the £3000-£5000 bracket with a nice high driving position and min 6 seats.
  • Peugeot 306 tyre pressure? 13 Aug 2006 (Forum)
It's not exactly technical, but then it's not a discussion either so I hope I've hit the right forum. My "new" 1997 Peugeot 306 1.9D has 175 / 70 R 13 tyres. Michelin at the front and Goodyear at the back. The tyre pressure label on the side of the door has completely faded and I don't know what tyre pressures I need.
  • 98 Peugeot 406 2.1td CAT 19 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Also, as I believe the car does not legally require a cat, could I just replace with a straight piece of pipe. Obviously Peugeot and gsf etc don't supply this bit. Anyone any ideas where from or if it is viable to try and source one. Thanks
  • Immobiliser Probs for Peugeot 306. 16 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I have a 95 N reg Peugeot 306 XRDT with a keypad style immobiliser and no alarm. I followed the instructions in the manual to change the pin code but it seems to have locked it, when you input the new code or the original code both the read and green light come on and it doesn't start.
  • Peugeot 306 XRDT 1995 N model 16 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Needless to say no handbook and key looks as if it had 'plip' buttons but rubber worn away. Any ideas how to disarm immobiliser, one mobile auto elec said if it was a Peugeot immobiliser he couldn't do anything with it. Thanks now to any replies.
  • Peugeot 106 - Steering issue 17 May 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 1994 Peugeot 106, and recently had the tracking / wheel allignment sorted. They also replaced something like an axel, or similar device that connects the steering to the wheels (i'm not very technical and can't find the receipt).
  • Tow bar electrics Peugeot 407 10 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Has anyone had a towbar fitted by a Peugeot dealer? I have had twin sockets fitted for Caravan towing but there is no feed for the fridge ( should only be live when engine runs due to high current flow) have contacted dealer where fitted and they say they dont normally connect the fridge supply, just permanent power for the van when static.
  • peugeot 206 rattle 19 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I have a problem with my peugeot 206, common rail diesel, millage 78,000. It's suddenly started making a diesel rattle when pulling away and accelerating, but after 2000rpm quietens down and will cruise very nicely. I took it to a local dealer to have the cam belt changed approx 10,000 miles before it was due.
  • peugeot 406 warning lights! 31 Jan 2005 (Forum)
(However, it didn't reappear after switching off and leaving for a few minutes) If you read the handbook it indicates impending engine catastrophic failure and rush to your Peugeot dealer! The car is a T reg 1.8 petrol estate, 88K miles. The 'airbag' warning light has been flashing for 3 years, and supposedly 'fixed' by dealer on two occasions. Oil and water are OK; car is serviced annually.
  • Peugeot 307 radio & cd changer, help 16 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I have a 2002 307 with the RB3 radio cassette player, have just got hold of a Baupunkt IDC A09 CD changer which I know is the exact model used in the higher spec motors than mine, my question is, will there be some 'specialist' connections required to connect the cd to the radio, I am wondering whether Peugeot will have modified the RB3 so that customers have to buy the CD changer through there dealers (at around £250)? Any help would be most appreciated. -- Drink Lager, Talk Piffle !
  • Peugeot 406 rear wheel bearing 6 Dec 2004 (Forum)
As a Technician I fail to see why these bearings can't be changed. Anyone had any experience of these and can the bearings be changed?? I suspect that Peugeot are trying it on. Your divine assistance and advice is appreciated. -- These are the views of Robin the Technician with 35 years in the trade. I fix, therefore I am...
  • Peugeot 106 Warning Lights 5 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Peugeot 106 XL(1.5 diesel, 1997)Oil and Temp Warning Lights I've lost both the oil and water temp warning lights on the dash after the following happened: I either put a 12V feed or earthed the yellow wire on the injector pump multi-plug and there was a loud cracking noise (like a fuse blowing).
  • Peugeot 306 Stiff Gear Change 20 Jan 2004 (Forum)
After 168K my so-far trusty Peugeot 306 diesel had developed a very stiff gear shift. Sometimes it is almost impossible to engage particularly 1st and 2nd gears. If the car is started from cold, the problem is not nearly so bad. It gets worse as the engine warms up.
  • Peugeot 306 - Lights on Warning 22 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Checking the car found warning sounds when using passenger door but not drivers door. Should it work on both doors or is this something Peugeot have missed on right-hand drive? Its a 1998 R-reg Diesel Turbo. I would like to be sure before trying to find the fault - Remember all those DAF(T) trucks in the 80s whose cab lay to n/s because the factory put the extra leaf in the o/s spring for left-drive.
