  • Volkswagen Scirocco Mk III (2008 - ) - Anyone seen one? 12 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Surprised no-one has mentioned this launch (or perhaps I missed it) Haven't seen one in the flesh but the website seems to suggest a Golf has made sweet lurve with a BMW 1 series. A wasted opp? The old Scirroco was different as was the Corrado which kind of replaced it.
  • Old car phone (analogue) to new Digital? 16 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I have just acquired a mint e36 BMW 320i with an old analogue phone in it. I also have a Cark system for my nokia. As there is an aerial and microphone alraedy fitted I was wondering is it possible to disconnect the old phone and fit the Cark cradle etc.
  • traffic cops 10 Nov 2006 (Forum)
i hope everyone watched traffic cops tonight that centered on the use of mobile phones and how they do kill while on our congested roads. i would also like to shake the hand of the policeman that gave the woman in the bmw a piece of his mind and glad that he gave 3 points to the man taking the shortcut down the hard shoulder
  • New Freelander 17 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Looks really good, they've tidied up the exterior but the biggest change is the inside with a better dashboard and other modifications. Looks like the Ford influence is beginning to come through. Same range of engines includint the BMW diesel. Think I shall put my name down for one.
  • Blown turbos yesterday 19 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Coming back from Hull yesterday I saw two Diesel cars with failed turbo's. First one was an '06 registered BMW (ouch!) with a massive trail of blue-black smoke behind it. Then, amazingly enough, about 20 miles later saw a newish (05 reg IIRC) Mazda6 Diesel trailing a load of smoke behind it...!
  • Driving in France - adjusting headlights 6 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Unlike the old model, there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust the headlights on my BMW 5 series (e60) for driving on the rhs. I seem to recall reading soemwhere that it's legal to drive in Europe with std lights provided they are at lowest setting on the dash mnounted control. Anyone else heard of this or am I dreaming?
  • Motoring April Fool 1 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Did anyone spot the BMW full page spoof ad in the Telegraph today about the EU proposed ban on RHD cars.BMW uninvents the wheel? I suppose it proves the Germans do have a sense of humour. I liked the reference to Herr Bitt - Fischi , head of research and design and Herr Huhr- Huhr , Customer Liaison Chief.
  • Air Filter Change Intervals 13 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Some manufacturers (BMW for one) are now talking 60k intervals for air filter changes, which to me seems grossly excessive if the engine is to run at maximum efficiency. I personally feel that 20k intervals would ensure the engine is running close to it`s designed optimum and wondered what policy B.R`s adopt.????
  • Do I turn off or leave running? 25 Feb 2005 (Forum)
About to get D5 Turbo-Diesel engine in a Volvo. I Remember reading somewhere that with BMW it is advisable after a long run to leave the engine at tick-over for a few minutes to ensure it remains lubricated. Do I need to do the same with the Volvo and are any other cars affected?
  • Corolla AE86 2 Dec 2004 (Forum)
So what if theyre RWD, they are still 20 years old, so if people want RWD that much, just buy an old BMW for a grand!
  • Freelander TD4 8 Oct 2004 (Forum)
The car-by-car Breakdown paints a rather bleak picture but I was wondering if a new one would be OK. Has anyone had experience of the new facelifted Freelander, especially the TD4 BMW engine?
  • Identifying an import / previous keeper 17 Nov 2003 (Forum)
How can you tell if a car is an import? I've seen the thread about a BMW bought from a dealer at a great price, but there was no conclusion as to how to identify if it was an import. My '03' Merc was bought from a dealer but was registered by a (UK based) fleet company.
  • C2 & 5 Series 27 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Saw my first C2, and my first BMW 5 Series on the roads today...... The '5' was quite nice, although rather over-designed - the sort of 'themed' style that will soon look dated. As for the C2 - Yikes, cover the childrens eyes! Admittedly it was in a pale lime green with black plastic bumbers but omigod that is one ugly puppy!
  • Car valuation please? 18 Jun 2003 (Forum)

  • Noisy diesel 23 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Following advice from HJ and others I am now the proud owner of a BMW 320 diesel. I am pleased with the car except for the engine niose which is much greater than the demonstrater that I tried. The dealer has had three attemts to quieten it by loading the latest software etc. but still no difference.
  • Winter Prices? 1 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I am seriously considering buying a BMW Z3 2.8 but I have one crucial question to which I can't find an answer! Is now a good time to buy (since the summer is almost over) or should I wait until the depths of winter for prices to drop? Do the prices drop a lot?

  • Insurance groups 15 Aug 2002 (Forum)
I'll soon be changing my 1993 1.6LX Mondeo, which is insurance group 7. Unfortunately, any of the cars I fancy changing to, such as BMW 525TD or Mitsubishi Galant 2.5 diesel, are group 14/15. Any idea on how much insurance increases per increase in group? (for an average driver; over 30, average mileage, full no-claims bonus).
  • Windscreen replacement 11 Jan 2002 (Forum)
My BMW 320 coupe (E36) has a growing crack in its windscreen and will need a replacement. I seem to remember reading/hearing about a screen replacement company which uses a high power light to melt the adhesive holding the old screen, making removal less brutal.
  • Manufacturer Sites 28 Dec 2001 (Forum)
So which are the good and bad ones? I'll nominate BMW's as being about as user-friendly as a cornered rat... try ordering a brochure if your house doesn't have a number (mine doesn't) or try the used car search to see some interesting geographical defintions.....
