Freelander TD4

Freelander TD4 - Big Cat
The wife has set her heart on a Freelander TD4, brand new. Now I know Freelanders have had a variable reputation but is that in the past? The car-by-car Breakdown paints a rather bleak picture but I was wondering if a new one would be OK.

Has anyone had experience of the new facelifted Freelander, especially the TD4 BMW engine?

Nothing wrong with the BMW engine - it's the best engine in the range.

You could get a perfectly fine car, however, Freelanders have acquired a reputation which will probably stick until the new model comes out in 2006 - at which point the old model will depreciate even faster.

You have my empathy, a determined female cuts a broad swathe through the best arguments!

My wife's Freelander TD4, bought new last Dec has covered c.13k miles without a murmur. The only fault is a heater pipe in the footwell coming adrift which simply pushed back together. She loves it.

dont bother go and buy a rav4 or x-trail

sis in laws head gasket went . surprise surprise

and she was goin on holiday the left her with a brand new td4 on the drive for a fortnight . even though they new she was away. you could have had that if you had asked last week,

i have had dealings with l.rover, who knows , you may be lucky.............................

It will clock up about 20K a year on her business as she's self-employed.

Rav4 and X-Trail are no doubt excellent cars BUT they don't have the LandRover badge. Who am I to argue with the logic of a wife?
