Distraction - the gameshow 24 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Are any of you as sad as myself - that you watch the so-called gameshow called distraction? Anyhow - now for the all important motoring association. I have been surprised the two weeks when the mini was being smashed up at the end of the show just how tough the headlamp lenses were. It often takes two or three good blows from a club hammer to smash them through. -
Which 4X4 for 15K? 19 Nov 2003 (Forum)
All fuel will be paid for by the company. He is currently considering a Landcruiser or a Range Rover and is also looking into Japanese Imports Any advice on the above or any others which we may have missed? Geoff -
Meguilar's - any observations 5 Nov 2003 (Forum)
This, the Gold version polish, sells in my local store for the equiv of £8.67 for about 300 ml vs good old-fashioned Turtle Wax which runs £2.47 equiv for the same amount. Both are US imported. The former claims to be the duck's guts but it's only wax after all and very expensive. I'm wondering whether I should treat my new car to it and if so what benefits can I expect, or just stick with the tried and true. -
Which one? 8 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Yippee - I've sold my imported Golf and am looking at buying a sports car. Had planned on the TT but decided against it. Two other options come to mind: mazda rx 8 nissan 350 z They're both corkers to look at but I've heard some negative things about the Mazda (albeit from the Nissan salesman). -
Previa - v - Lucida 14 Jul 2003 (Forum)
In trying to advise her, I think that she would be better off with a diesel automatic. The Previa is petrol only but is a known quantity, but the Lucida is a Japanese import come with diesel/auto and the vehicles on sale are of uncertain pedigree. Can anyone advise me about things to look for and whether she should steer clear? Thanks GTLK -
Where to buy P21S Wheel Cleaner in UK 16 Jun 2003 (Forum)
http://www.iauto.co.uk/pages/alloy_wheel.htm ..but it's expensive at £14 and £7 delivery for just 500ml. Is it available elsewhere? If it's not officially imported, why not, if it's so good? I'm looking for a non-acid based wheel cleaner. The only alternative to P21S I can find is Muc-Off, but it's very cheap, so is it any good? Can't find any reviews/opinions. -

Basically the only car that came up was a Golf V5, but is there anything else which might be OK which has the all important auto box? -
Tyre recommendations 28 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Being a hard compound I find these give a harsh ride and are very noisy, can anybody recommend a quieter, smoother, replacement. Wear rates are less important as annual mileage is only about 6K p.a. I have in mind Conti Ecocontact or Goodyear NCT, any other offers? Ta ever so. -

Car names 1 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Now in this world of highly prized trademarks, a car's name seems to be very important and manufacturers are keen to protect them. I seem to remember Peugeot and BMW having a disagreement as some of the numbers each company use were in danger of clashing. I only know (but am sure there are more examples) of a name being used by more than one manufacturer. -
cambelt change 16 Oct 2002 (Forum)
It sounds paranoid, but one hears of forged service records from time to time, and teh cambelt change is so important. Any ideas anyone? -
car parts 15 Oct 2002 (Forum)
A colleague has just had to wait seven weeks for a small part to repair the differential of her Vauxhall Frontera. The actual repair at the garage took about 20 minutes. The garage said it had to be imported from Europe. I believe there was an article on a recent "Watch Dog" about Rover's difficulties in supplying car parts after it 'rationalised' Unipart. Rover has, apparently, been having to cannibalise new cars still on the production line to meet warranty commitments. -
Milly Dowler Car Search. 15 Oct 2002 (Forum)
It seems likely that some Backroomers might have information regarding the distorted picture the police have of a car that may be important in the search for the killer of Milly. The old thread was getting a bit large so I'm starting a new one here. More info can be found here: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/index.htm?news_id=834 Previous discussion is here: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm? -
Air Conditioning 2 May 2002 (Forum)
The a/con in my ten year old imported vehicle, has, I believe CFC type gas and I understand that it is mandatory to have the new type of gas if the a/c system requires service. Is there also a requirement to have the high and low pressure fill/test couplings changed from a screw type to a push on self seal connectors (or vice versa). -

Reg Numbers 13 Mar 2002 (Forum)
As starting at 01 and increasing by 1 every six months will give enough combinations to last forty five and a half years, why the hell didn't they do just that, or have I missed some important point? -

Illegal to drive with this cracked windscreen 23 May 2023 (Forum)
I think my insurance policy should cover the replacement (won't find out till tommorow) but I have two very important meetings so won't be able to get it sorted, till the end of the week. The crack not in my field of view and cannot be felt from the inside but is around 30cm in length. If I get pulled over will I get done by the police? -

However wondering whether post 2015 facelift might be a better buy. Appreciate any comments. I understand need a crystal ball with cars ??
