  • HJ's recommended cars 3 Jan 2005 (Forum)
HJ is positive about it, but it doesn't rate a recommended tag. HJ highly rates the Mondeo, but I am such a huge fan of Japanese reliability (my current Nissan and two previous Mitsubishis were almost faultless)that I am tempted by the Honda. It is also perhaps more likely to have been looked after well and driven sensibly ( a more mature person's car?)
  • Am I that out of date ? 19 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Fiddled with roof light and whole roof lining moved up about 2 inches and twanged back. My wife spotted the Nissan badge on the tailgate being at least 10 degrees out of level. At this point we both said stuff that it's junk. Of course I know it isn't but it was not very impressive at all. Is this what you get for serious money these days ?
  • Speeding (mostly excl cameras) XVII 15 Jun 2004 (Forum)
It\'s late, I\'m bored and thought I\'d post this. This is an interesting one. I was watching the TV before and that advert came on where the Nissan Sunny careers into that kid and it says \"If this car were travelling at 30mph, it would have stopped....here\" Anyway, I can\'t say I\'d ever paid much attention to it but I noticed that the car was coming out of a thirty limit so the loweest limit it could be in would be a 40.

  • New car insurance 2 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Had a very pleasant surprise when I rang up my insurer (Direct Line) for a quote to transfer my insurance from my 10 year old Proton MPi saloon (insured fully comp with legal pretection) only to find that there would be no additional charge to transfer it on to a brand new Nissan Almera 1.5 Flare I am thinking of buying, as they are both the same group, There about 8 months remaining on the existing policy What a surprise! Think I will be staying with Direct Line then Also Full retail price on the Almera is £12100 OTR and ive managed to secure a quote for £9200 OTR including metallic paint, from www.motorprovider.co.uk Guess they will be getting my business as well, seem to be a good bunch to deal with.
  • 4X4/SUV - Spare wheel mounting 17 Sep 2003 (Forum)
The position of the spare wheel on 4X4/SUVs generally seems to be; a. on the tailgate - Honda CRV, LR Discovery, Toyota LC Colorado, Isuzu Trooper, Mitsu Shogun etc. b. under the rear - Range Rover, Toyota LC Amazon, Nissan Patrol etc. However, UK spec Amazons/Patrols have their spare under the rear, but imported ones have them on the tailgate. What's the (manufacturers) reasoning behind this? Chad. PS. Yes, before all you Landies start shouting - I do know that you have the choice of mounting the spare in various places on a proper Land Rover.
  • Coolant change. 13 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Doing some research with regard to when to change the coolant on my Primera 2.0 SRi 1998 model (32k) I read that the concentration should be maintained at 50% & checks on the presence of corosion inhibitors being indicated by the level of alkalinity of the fluid. It gave no level of alkalinity but suggested that if was alkaline then there was no need to ghange the coolant. The alkalinity can be easily checked with litmus paper.I consulted a Nissan specialist who does most of my maintenance and he said that he checked the concentration on a service and if it was adequate he would not recommend a change. His primera has covered some 160,000 mls.
  • Engine starts but not run 22 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Dear all, I have a Nissan QX (95) which runs wonderfully until now. It has done 95k miles so I decided to add in some injectors cleaners. I waited until an empty tank, put in 400ml of Forte fuel injector cleaner with about 40 litres of petrol.
  • Just how is insurance calculated? 3 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Now I always thought the primary consideration was insurance group. Seems I was wrong. Entering in an old-shape Nissan Micra 1.0 (group 4) results in an insurance premium of £400 or thereabouts. Entering in an old Vauxhall Astra 1.4 (also group 4) results in a quote of £550. A Citroen ZX 1.4 (same group) is over £600!
  • Buying a VW Vento 9 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Can anyone give me some advice on buying a VW Vento 1.8 CL AUTOMATIC. Its a replacement for my nan's 1987 Nissan Sunny Auto that has been so reliable. She has a £1500 limit and Insurance cost is important. The cars that match her size and insurance requirements are Vento, Rover 416 & Astra Saloon, all Autos.
  • Best large MPV for me? 2 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Or should I wait for a new Espace? Wifey wants an MPV for our 2(later 3)children and general life detritus. I want a Nissan X-Trail myself, but she is under peer pressure (and pregnancy hormones!)and gets to choose within reason. I had settled on a TDi Alhambra / Sharan, but now the new Espace is looming. I don't like the out-going Espace, even with the huge discounts on offer, and have a background dislike for most French cars (we have a BMW 3 and a VW Polo).
  • timing belt 24 Oct 2001 (Forum)
I have owned a Nissan Bluebird from new since 1989, which has still only done 85K miles. The timing belt was changed @ 45K miles, when I started using the car for long journeys to work, 42 miles each way. I am now only doing 7 miles per day each way & cannot find any recommendation in my Haynes manual for when the timing belt should be replaced next.
  • MOT con or not? 14 May 2001 (Forum)
Is it likely that a new catalyst at even more expense might be required? Should I take it to an authorised Nissan dealer since they might have better diagnostic equipment? John Jones
  • Small Cars needing high revs ! 10 Feb 2001 (Forum)
Dear John, I have a Nissan Micra 1993 L 1.0 litre 40ks on the clock.I travel 6 x miles daily to work and 6 x miles back. This is in the New Forest area on winding roads up to 40 MPH. With the new small cat cars needing high revs I stay in 3rd gear up to and including 40MPH just about all the way on my journeys to work.
  • Choosing a second car - ideas? 10 Feb 2008 (Forum)
whatever happened to the old ?knurly wheel? most cars had. My Mitsubishi Grandis is the same as this Nissan, and it is about the only thing that regularly annoys me, not going to make that mistake again. Thinking about it.. what do Nissan have to tempt me? they don?t have a 2+ 2 coupe anymore to replace the 200SZX, like Peugeot 407, Alfa GT,?
  • Nissan Micra - 14 day French road test 27 Oct 2005 (Forum)
It seems that every time I hire a car in France, I get a Clio. Now, just when a new Clio is out, and getting a Clio would be interesting, Budget give me a Nissan Micra. Even the Twingo that companies always promise (?Twingo or similar? according to the blurb) which would be moderately newsworthy, (since I assume that few backroomers have driven them) never turns up.
