• lost £1000 deposit !!! 6 May 2004 (Forum)
  Hi All. need some advice please. went to a large audi dealership, saw a car i fell in love with. put a £1000 deposit down. 1 day later, deceided not to have the car. and let them know straight away. they now want to keep the deposit! is this right. the car was not advertised any where, it was just at the dealer. please help, i cannot afford to lose £1000. thanks

  I bought my wife a 96 Audi A4 that was in pristine conditon when I picked it up but now 6 months down the road the rear bumper has been "attacked" on a number of occasions. Now I know it is my fault buying a car with colour coded bumpers (why do manufacturers insist on doing this?)

  Does anyone know of a diesel engine specialist in or near Bedford who can give me a sensible quote for changing 6 glow-plugs on an Audi A6 2.5 TDI? One garage has declined to do the work (too much risk of them snapping) and another has quoted over £200, which I take to mean they don't want to do it either. Dave

  In due course I am going to replace my much loved 1998 Audi A6 saloon. Lexus are doing very competitive deals on the IS 200 & 300 range, and offered a high part-ex price for the A6. I won't need anything as big as the A6 any more, so does the IS200/300 seem like a good bet?

  Hi folks, Ive been looking at Personal Leasing for the next car and the new Jags seem to be very reasonably priced in comparison to the Audis I would really like. Im put off by the fact they are from the Ford parts bin (you all know of my Mondewoe problems). So how good are they? 2.5 or 3.0 X Type and 2.5 or 3.0 S Type. Bill

  I thought it was quite amusing in a light harted sort of way. Certainly nothing featured on there that the average man couldn't get, just some tin cans from Audi and Saab, and an ugly hot hatch from Alfa. Car sumo is quite fun. This was after a bottle of red however. My wife didn't find it quite so amusing ;)

  Would appreciate some advice/comments/experience please. I am looking to purchase a Merc E300TD, an Audi A6 2.5 TDI or the BMW 530d. I have already been told that the E300TD is boring and thirsty. The 530d is a great drive but blows turbo's (BMW mechanic information) and build quality not up to the Merc.Can anyone give me some advice to assist my choice.

  Quick question for the mechanical experts. I'm about to change the brake pads on my Audi Coupe (1991, twin pot front calipers, ABS). I have read in a couple of places that with ABS systems you should not force the pistons back into the brake caliper unless the brake bleed nipple is open, otherwise you will trash the ABS pump.

  The consensus with all regulars is to avoid (understatement) main dealers and head for a good local specialist if possible. I'm looking for a garage in the Epsom area to look after my Audi 80 (M, Quattro), however, the entry on the HJ 'recommended garages' page only lists 'Drift Bridge Garage' which is a VAG main dealer. (confused). Can anyone recommend an alternative in this area?

  Hi guys, I've stumbled across this forum while looking into an issue I currently have and hoped I might be able to get some advice by creating an account, I hope this is okay. Sunday July 22nd I bought an Audi A3 (2006) for my pregnant wife to use as her family car when the baby comes later this year. 63,000 miles (petrol) and we paid £4,100 cash. Car drove fine in test drive, no problems mentioned by the dealer.

  Following on from a previous message Probably got around £30k for a plugin SUV Talking to current PHEV owners..anyone got views good or bad on these ?   So 3 year old A6 allroad BiTurbo will be available from Audi approved dealer for around 25K which is approximately 50% of its original value. With 25K you could buy a new estate or SUV like tiguan. However it cannot match the perfomance of BiTurbo and the comfort of air supension in Alltrack.

  Driving down the M1 today in South Yorkshire in torrential rain i was passed by a convoy of 10-12 unmarked police cars using lights and sirens at 90+ mph , rather them than me. Unusual combination of cars, Seat Leon, Golf, Audi A1 , Mini didnt see others as it was raining really heavy , i just wondered what was going on also never realised A1 and minis as unmarked traffic cars

He has just checked the tyre pressures for the first time (and found them to be overpressured) and is whining about it. My attitude : Yes, the dealer screwed up. But the owner has been grossly negligent in not checking tyre pressures for 6 months, and should bear a large part of the responsibility.

  Except for Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia.   Manufacturers are only making Saloon.  Audi - A4 - only saloon BMW - none (but they have a 3 series tourer) Nissan - no Mercedes - never Renault Laguna - no Mazda 6 - no VW - Passat - only saloon - never made hatchbacks Toyota Avensis - only saloon Honda - none

  I would happily buy a set of higher profile wheels if I had suitable evidence that changing from a 45 profile tyre to a 55 profile tyre would make a large difference to the noise levels inside my Audi A3 at motorway speeds.

  We are in the process of selling our b6 audi avant for something bigger. 2 young children mean car seats, buggie's and the kitchen sink normally come on every journey. We need something bigger. We do approx 12k per year, mostly A roads, our budget is a maximum of 4k.
