  I understand that it is possible to recallibrate the trip computer to correct reported mpg figures on a number of makes of car - eg BMW  and Subaru. Anyone know if it is possible on Hyundai cars?   Derk

  Are they mad ? As if things weren't bad enough for them Ford have now paid BMW £6M for the Rover name. I think it is aimed at protecting the Land Rover name so it is not cheapened when associated with cheap Chinese Rovers.

  Hi, I am thinking of spending around £10K on a Range Rover 2.5 (the BMW diesel one), for this money you can get a 2000 HSE with quite a few miles on it. Has anyone any experience of this car at this age? Cheers, Miles

  I am regularly reading on this site about E36 BMWs or W123 Mercedes' or similar. What are these? How do you know? The only similar coding I know of is the C32 AMG, E55 AMG, etc Mercs. Mattster Boycott shoddy build and reliability.

  BMW. Just had my air mass sensor changed on my 318i along with spark plugs. me thinks that plugswere changed unnecessarily as old ones only 7k used. Should I complain and ask for cash back? Thanks

  I am planning to buy a secondhand BMW/Merc. I have found that a car about 2 years old has 2 or 3 owners with various reasons from the dealers. Can these be imports? How can you tell please?

  On my way to the beach this weekend I turned on to a nice straight road with good visibilty and no oncoming traffic. There was a 1-series BMW ahead of me and ahead of him was a large Volvo saloon. I had been following the BMW for a few miles and was keen to overtake as soon as it was safe. As the road ahead was straight and clear and there were no signs indicating junctions off the road I checked my mirror, indicated and gave it the beans to get past both cars.

  A month or so ago I travelled a 7 hr round trip to an independent dealer after a few weeks of negotiations, all prepared to part ex and drive home in a white BM Cab. When I got there there was an issue with an engine light that apparently needed BMW to turn it off and to cut a long story short I walked away. So now I've been negotiating with another garage on another BM Cab; (got rid of a 1 Series cab in Jan but miss the top down feeling!). It was all sounding great until I checked the MOT History; (a great service btw!)

  Out of idle curiosity I checked the oil level today at the dipstick. It was at the minimum mark. I didn't check it when I took delivery, taking it for granted that BMW and its dealers would know more about putting oil in a car than I would ever find of interest. This may have been a tactical error. Neither I did not bother to find out the manufacturer's recommended oil.
