Buy it now £4500, only a one day auction, anyone else smell a rat? seems to good to be true but then the guy does have 100% feedback.

At first you'd think dodgy. Then you'd think, good marketing. People see it unexpectedly given it's so low and a bidding war begins between people vying for a bargain.

But then you start thinking why it's so low. He's got 100% feeback yes but he's only sold 57 relatively minor things.

I dunno.

Well, not saying this guys a scammer but an absolute Ebay classic is to sell loads of low value items get a really good rating and then move in for the sting.

Tread carefully.

I cant get into ebay here, but is it an american chap who also has an Alfa 147 GTA for sale at £4.5k buy it now?

I read about this on alfaowner and it seems similar. and just as dodgy.

All i can say buy because of the product not because of the seller.....
330d for £4.5k? - richy
He has no other items for sale and hasnt sold an alfa.
Bidding started at £99 and buy it now of £4500, bidding has now gone to £5600. Seemed strange it being a 1 day auction, you'd think if he was after maximum price then he'd want longer exposure.

Unless I am mistaken Parkers is giving a trade in value for this car at £15030!! - admittedly with 30k miles but 60k wouldn't reduce the price by too much. Surely if you wanted to sell a car like this quickly you'd find a dealer who would give you £10k for it with no hesitation. After all this is a highly desirable car. Why sell on one day auction and most likely at alot less that that.

Anyone thick enough to bid on this car deserves what they get imo...

Funnily enough item is no longer for sale due to item being cancelled.

Buy it now £4500,

>>

maybe a typo - and he meant £14500.

last week there was a dealer offering another luxury car on autotrader for £10,000 less than he meant to, because of a typo !

It works like this:-

1. Genuine eBayer gets convincing looking e-mail from eBay saying "Give us your details or we will suspend your account."

2. Genuine eBayer gives details which the scammer then uses to list the high value item.

3. Someone hopefully comes along and pays the money to the scammer quickly enough that the genuine eBayer doesn't notice.

4. Genuine eBayer notices; hopefully no one has been ripped off but the quick auction end facilitates it being completed before the account holder or eBay can be alerted to the fraud.
