• Will the Prius start to pay now 14 Dec 2006 (Forum)
  There has been allot of deate on motoring and business forums about the real green attributes of the Prius and how it is probably costing Toyota to sell them. Nissan (and presumably Renault later) are now paying Toyota under licence to use their hybrid technology. Will the Prius turn out to be one of those long term decisions that Toyota are so good at (usually after they have been criticised for doing someting such as the Prius) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6168745.stm I wonder who will be next ?
• Ruptured Achilles tendon 4 Dec 2006 (Forum)
  Last Friday I suffered a left foot ruptured achilles tendon which i have been told will take at least 3 months to treat. I am considering changing my Nissan X-Trail for an automatic vehicle to carry my wife and two small dogs. Would I still be allowed to drive such a vehicle with a plaster cast on my left leg, if so any recommendations as to what car would be suitable with a price of approx £13 K Looking forward to your advice.

  I have a 1997 R Nissan Primera 2.0 gX auto and the auto box is stiff. Also instead of driving in D, i have to wrestle it into N to move and to reverse it goes all the way upto P to reverse!! But when it is driving it is fine; smooth gear changes etc.

  It stopped doing this for about a month, so i thought it had fixed itself but it has since returned. took it down to the nissan dealer and they thought it was caused by mis-aligned panels. before they start messing about trying to find which panels might be causing it, i was hoping someone could tell me if it is reasonable that this could be the problem or might have any other suggestions?

  Advice from fellow readers requested ... My Nissan Primera is getting old and needs to be replaced. I can set the heater to warm the cabin and cool my face at the same time. Great for keeping alert on long winter motorway journeys. Most new cars these days have sophisticated systems that cannot achieve this simple setting.
• Avensis, Mazda 6 or Mondeo? 20 Sep 2005 (Forum)
  I am thinking of buying a new car, principally for SWMBO, but I will drive it from time to time. The choice is between : Toyota Avensis, Ford Mondeo, Mazda 6, with Honda Accord and Nissan Primera as second string. It MUST have Auto box and cruise control, I would ideally like sat. nav. and diesel - which rules out all of them except the Ford. Most important, it must be reiable. What do you think?

  The published figures and HJ's roadtest imply the diesel is the one to pick, and I suspect it might suit his low revs driving style. However Nissan diesels were, pre-Renault, rather naff. Any views gratefully received. Thanks Peter

  I have a 1995 Nissan Micra and up to now it's been brilliant. Recently it's developed a whistling sound when first started - this seems to disappear once the temperature gauge goes over the lowest point (ie into the actual guage on the display), so i presume (i have NO technical knowledge whatsoever) this means it stops when the engine is heated to 'useable' temperature.

  I've contributed to the thread on the Mercedes E-Class cooling hose problem (parts not available for weeks), also just read the HJ Car by Car; he says of the Nissan Primera II that 'spares shortages can put cars off road for three months'. My wife runs one of these and odd part we've needed has been available straight away, although we've never needed much.

  Having popped into the local branch of german and swedish to get a couple of bits for me, the old man was sufficiently impressed with them that he asked me if I know any similar suppliers of parts for japanese cars - nissan especially. Of course I don't know any as I don't drive a jap car. But I know a man/backroom that might. Feel sure I've seen this come up before, and tried a quick search but didn't find anything.

  I pointed out that his attempted fix during the 3 month warranty period hadn't cured the problem and that I had researched that 2.5 Nissan engine on the web - apparently lots of failures reported to do with prematurely worn piston rings and/or the pre-cat breaking up and bits of it getting sucked into the engine causing damage to the cylinder walls (especially on Altimas in the USA).
