Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 00 2.0 HDi Fuel Problems 6 Apr 2009 (Forum)
He has checked, and claims fuel is getting as far as injectors, although he's getting a reading of 2 volts at the injectors, which he believes should be higher, can't remember what he said, but in the 5-7 volt area. He thinks ECU might be problem, but we believe that these are programmed to car, so might be pointless swapping it over. Reading forums there seem to be endless possibilities as to what problem might be. History: Fuel guage sender was faulty, so replaced low pressure pump, new unit, soon after purchase. -
Honda Accord UK (1998 - 2003) - 00 2.0i stalls at junctions and when changing gear 4 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Local garage adjusted all sorts of throttle stuff, idle speed etc no better. then got a sensor low voltage message on the ECU. They replaced throttle body sensor for over £100, light went off BUT still stalls at junctions and when changing down. ie if you let the revs drop it does not stop at tickover, goes too far then bounces a bit and stalls even when rolling at 20mph. -

Peugeot 306 1.8i 8v engine stuttering 7 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Having purchased the Haynes manual, I see that the fuel and ignition systems are closed loop controlled by the ECU, with nothing I can adjust, but I wonder if this could perhaps be an over zealous fuel cut off, or pressure regulator problem, that I could easily fix by component replacement? If anyone has any light they can shed from previous experience, I would be grateful to read it please, and cure the one problem that exists. -
Starting a flooded engine! 24 Mar 2008 (Forum)
One is to take out all the plugs and let the neat petrol in the combustion chambers evaporate away. The other is to isolate the cold start instructions from the ECU to the engine (equivalent flooring the accelerator pedal to give a flooded non-cat car maximum air to sort the mixture out by ). However, this last method could damage the cat. HJ " -
Suitable car for tall person with injured knee 7 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I'm seeking a car that is comfortable with excellent front seats and leg room, reliable (I live in a rural area with no sign of a bus service and the two faults that stopped my previous S80 in it's tracks - ETM and ECU - could easily strike again), economical and, with an automatic transmission. Budget? I could stretch to £10K but would prefer to part with about half of that if possible. Apologies for the life story but I thought some background information would explain why I am where I am and why I seek what I seek. -
Colt vs Getz vs Swift 18 Jun 2007 (Forum)
It seems to be a very popular yet not so common car. My current car is a Hyundai Accent (which is fairly good other than niggling faults - ABS, ECU, E/W etc.) Still considering Getz for 5-yr warranty (though probably if I buy 1-yr old car will sell after 2 years). This is the first time I'm going to buy a new (or nearly new) car. Should I consider Jamjar/drivethedeal price as baseline for bargaining? -
Car replacement/MOT problem 13 May 2007 (Forum)
My dad has a Ford Escort 1.6 zetec with MOT or tax though the engien is fine it has all sorts of ECU problems my uncle is looking into. I have a Ford Fiesta 1.1 HCS which we have both been using and have managed to get 2000 miles out of it. The MOT is due next month and the last couple of weeks the oil problem I have posted about before has got a lot worse. -
Peugeot 306 1.4 1998 - hestitation 13 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Upon each replacement things seemed ok for a day or so but then it went back to its old ways ( is this some thing to do with the ecu relearning things?). Anyway I am at my wits end with this problem ( as well as the power steering pump going , the AC compressor clutch and the permanently blinking air bag light despite changing sensors ---- arrrrrrgh) Any helpful advice gratefully received. -
RAC - whats going on 25 May 2006 (Forum)
next day rang vw and told them whats happening and said what the RAC had told me. they laughed and said there is no such thing as a turbo seal. got my mecanic round today, plugged his computer in, pressed a few buttons and reset the ECU and everything is now all fine and only cost me £35. considering i was expecting to pay in the region of £500 thanks to the patrolmans prediction. ANYWAY do these patrolmen actually know what they are talking about because the last two times they have been completly wrong and very far away from what is really wrong. might move to the AA -
Nissan Primera Engine Management Fault 16 May 2004 (Forum)
The laatest thing my local mechanic has done is to fit some sheilding to prevent the ingnition causing interference with the ECU. This gas imprived things considerably, but not completely and I can't help thinking it's curing the symptoms rather than the root cause of the problem. One final diagnostic clue. When driving at nightI've noticed the headlights flicker intermittently and their is initially (i.e when engine is cold again ?) -
Fiat Cinquecento problems 6 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Before I bought it it turns out it had the following parts replaced by a garage in an attempt to get rid of the problem which just wouldn't go away: Spark plugs, HT leads, 2 map sensors, complete single point injection unit, 2 temperature sensors, crank sensor, lambda sensor, and 3 ECUs. My Fiat dealer did a diagnostic test and recommended a new lambda probe (which I replaced). When this didn't work they took it in again and said that the computer kept telling them it was one fault and then the other (low battery voltage was a common theme). -

diesel - Diesel Engine remaps and emissions. 10 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Unlike gas engines, diesel engines do not NEED any of these data to operate. These parameters are measured solely so that the ECU can optimise the fuelling rate and timing to real time local conditions. Fuel quality across Europe is regulated to a common standard. Fuel quality outside the EU is of no concern to OEMs selling cars in Europe. -
