Car replacement/MOT problem - Rattle
My dad has a Ford Escort 1.6 zetec with MOT or tax though the engien is fine it has all sorts of ECU problems my uncle is looking into.

I have a Ford Fiesta 1.1 HCS which we have both been using and have managed to get 2000 miles out of it. The MOT is due next month and the last couple of weeks the oil problem I have posted about before has got a lot worse.

The smoke has now become quite a dense blue colour and its using a lot of oil. My question will the labour be too much to ge the oil seals replaced? How much would I likely to get for these two cars so we can sell them both to put towards a single better one?

1995 N Ford Escort 1.6 LX silver, 96k, full service history last serviced 300 miles ago, worked fine until my dad had to stop driving since an accident but now it won't start, the battery is had it but it won't start with another battery either. Its probably just damp ignition compoments or somthing.

1995 N Fiesta Classic 1.1, 103k, only one service invoice, body work in good condition for age, 1 months MOT, 3 months tax, drives perfectly, camshaft noisy and burns oil.

A loan isn't really an option so we are a bit stuck :(.

My dad seems to think its worth spending £300 on the Fiesta to fix all the problems with the engine but I am not so sure.

About £50? You could try Ebay.

Failing that it might be worth repairing the Fiesta, but with just 1 month's MOT you would need to be sure of an MOT pass next month.

£300 will easily get you a car with 12 months MoT , so I'd get onto Ebay and have a look. Think un-trendy cars like Skoda Favorit, Fiat Uno etc. The Skodas are usually £150 with 12 months MoT.
