No indication 8 May 2010 (Ask HJ)
Our 17 year old is currently learning to drive. Yesterday we were approaching a mini roundabout with traffic following us. The sight lines meant there... -
One for the collective 26 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Local combined footpaths are signed as such and have a demarkation line, there are none on this plus its too narrow. Just ahead of me walking towards me at the time were a couple with a double buggy, it filled the pavement. The cyclist would have been unable to pass those pedestrians. So my question is what would have happened if the cyclist had been unfortunate (probably too mild a word) and have come off the pavement in front of a car or worse still a lorry. -
Car insurance for newly qualified driver 11 Jun 2006 (Forum)
He is doing the 'Pass Plus' course in a few weeks which should also bring the insurance cost down a little. However, Direct Line say this will make no difference and he will have wait until he is 19 years old before he will be allowed on the insurance. -
Anyone else been offered this? 18 Aug 2003 (Forum)
This is all free, and I get to go out in a nice Focus Ghia, all at Ford's expense. :-) Obviously I'm going to accept it, providing it isn't a pass plus certificate, which I already have. I feel that a free opportunity to brush up on some driving skills which may have started to slip after a couple of years at the wheel is too good to pass up! -
Emissions, and stuff 1 Jul 2003 (Forum)
If you've been reading recent posts, you might know that I've just taken the Golf TDi for it's MoT. It passed, but not quite just like that. The emissions were OTT. The advice was "change the air filter, put some Miller's Dieselclean Plus in the fuel, change the fuel filter and run it for 600 miles. No, I need an MoT certificate today, mate. -
Fiesta MOT failure - repair costs 9 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Offside (front and rear), brake pipe excessively corroded. Centre exhaust split, needs welding. (passed emissions test) -
Ford B max 1.4 zetec 2013 - Not starting 20 Oct 2023 (Forum)
No warning lights showing, but Garage "suspect" instrument cluster problem (apparently common) repair cost if unit sent off about £150 ish + vat plus labour to remove etc. Ford main dealer will obviously be more if a new instrument cluster. Other thoughts are ECU failure New ECU is abot £750 plus vat plus fitting, but all of the above depend on Ford dealer diagnostics. -
Who gets the salvage money 26 Jul 2024 (Forum)
On gaining the assessors report… it stated the pre accident value of the car was £2000 My question is... has the accident management skimmed off the savage into their own pockets... IE should I receive: the assessment of the car (£2000) plus the salvage (£300) = £2300 OR the assessment of the car (£2000) minus the salvage (£300) = £1700 plus the salvage (£300) = £2000? To date I have not received all the payments owed to me but they have already sold the car on to a third party. -
VW Golf advice 22 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Hey all, Ditching my golf Gti as need to get my wife insured and as she's just passed the test, it's expensive...plus the cars on its last legs, so now seems the right time to change. Looked at several different makes, models and styles, but going to get another golf, question is which one. -
Super Service. Door mirror glass replaced. 18 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I wonder how much a main dealer would charge? ( the glass was £17:61 plus vat compared with a simple stick on version @ £7 including vat) -
what did you learn to drive in?? 5 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Had 6 lessons at 17 shillings and sixpence a lesson and the seventh lesson was my test which was the lesson fee plus £1 for the test. Passed first time. Happy days in 1967. The whole lot for £7.12.5p in new money. Cheers Concrete -
Rover 75 fitting air flow meter 25 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hi posting this again to see if anybody knows about the Rover air flow meter. I got passed a quote fro dealership for a grand total of £335 for replacing air flow meter plus labour (and new air filter). I sourced a meter for £110 (compared to Rover's £180 before VAT). Just wondering about fitting the meter. -
Hyundai i20 1.2 litre Comfort 5 dr - Gross Negligence - Annual Service and MOT 25 May 2017 (Forum)
As it turned out it was little more than an oil and filter change plus a wash and valet plus an on site MOT - even the engine oil was half way down the dipstick between Full and Min when engine was cool and levels settled on the driveway at home. The car has been utterly reliable since new and has exceeded my expectations in every way but the dealership experience really lets it down. -

Question about 'New Drivers 2 Yr Rule' 13 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Basically I made a couple of silly transgressions, got 6 points for them & as a result had my full licence taken off me and am now back as a learner on a provisional licence. Despite originally passing first time, since being back as a learner I keep failing and seem destined to not regain my full licence. (If I sound fed up with it, that's because I am... in fact I'm on the point of giving it up altogether) I've had enough mickey-taking from friends, plus lessons & tests are getting a bit expensive. -
Suzuki - Electric 16 Sep 2024 (Forum)
Edit: I know it's seems a bit daft getting the Vitara serviced a week before chopping it in but it's on a service plan, costs a few quid a month plus they've agreed to such a good trade in price think I would have felt guilty knowing it was due a service.
