Which car for a tall first-time automatic driver?

Can you recommend the best car for my son who has recently passed his test to drive an automatic car? He's 6 feet 4 inches tall and about 19 stone, and he'll have about £2000 to spend. He has learnt in a 53-reg Nissan Micra, which he likes.

For someone that tall, we'd suggest a larger hatchback than a Micra. A Ford Focus is pretty much ideal as it's reliable, good to drive and you can get a 1.6-litre petrol/automatic combination. We've seen some tidy examples for around £2000 with less than 50,000 miles on the clock. The Zetec is the 'sporty' model and has firmer suspension than the rest, plus alloy wheels.
