  • One small step... 18 Nov 2003 (Forum)
(Dont know if this will become a speed camera thread?) Sat afternoon I was driving in Middlesbrough. On approaching a busy junction I noticed a police car, parked on double yellow lines, less than 100 yds from traffic lights, effectively blocking a left filter lane.

  • A74 (M) 13 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hi all after a trip to Edinburgh this weekend, I noticed on a gantry on the A74(m) a set of what looked like cameras. They looked like the blue roadside monitors that are prevalant around blackpool but they were grey. Also there were across the whole gantry and were 2 high, there must have been about 40 of them in total, anyone got any ideas what they are?
  • NIP 4 SWMBO 18 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Back in March HJ wrote Apparently (and, of course legal + plod-u-like comment is invited) if you get NIPped by a digital camera, all you ahve to do is write back and ask if the image of your car on which the conviction is based is enhanced. It inevitably will be, but (apparently) this constituted "tampering with evidence" which renders the evidence inadmissible in court and the case against you will be dropped.
  • Motoring in UK 17 Apr 2002 (Forum)
It seems after you have brought diesel for 45p a lt, driven on open, uncongested well laid roads and not been caught by video cameras and CCTV for speeding when in fact you were not, that driving in Britain is a tedious and joyless experience. We even used trains on one occaision to go from Marsaille to Grenoble (some 400KM) just for the relaxing time it affords, this cost £30rth for two people and the TGV was on time and clean.
  • Supermarket parking 7 Mar 2002 (Forum)
a car parked right next to mine, but what made it worse, he/she parked so close I had to drive out of the space so my wife could get in the passenger door, once again tons of empty spaces around me, I just wish I had my camera in the car it would have made a lovely shot!
  • Monday Humour 25 Feb 2002 (Forum)

Cute Hawk flies in front of the television camera and holds, in middle screen, flying towards us ................cue kids chorus Little hawk flies next to it ................cue kids chorus (son) Large jet appears, sucks mother hawk into engine, explosion of blood guts and feathers, little hawk starts crying at loss of his mother. ................cue kids chorus (orphan)
  • Alfa 166 3.0 Auto 15 Jan 2002 (Forum)
It can be overcome by driving it around in tiptronic mode which keeps the car in third to well above 60kms per hour, however it tends to burn fuel and keeps the speed cameras happy. Any comments or suggestions would be gratefully received. Alan Boys Perth Western Australia
  • Essex Casualties Rise 18 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Road deaths in Essex this year have already reached 111, thus equalling the previous peak in 1999 which was the excuse for introducing a raft of speed limits, cameras, road humps, chicanes, etc. And there is still six weeks of winter weather to go. The drop from the 1999 level back to the long-term average in 2000 was hailed as a triumph for restrictions which had "saved dozens of lives and hundreds of injuries".
