(Dont know if this will become a speed camera thread?)
Sat afternoon I was driving in Middlesbrough. On approaching a busy junction I noticed a police car, parked on double yellow lines, less than 100 yds from traffic lights, effectively blocking a left filter lane. Bet you can guess what he was doing! Thats right, he was operating a scamera!
Got home, incensed, phoned local newspaper, told them about it. I said if you can get there quick, you\'ll be able to get a photo.
They said they may run it, and actually DID!!
You can see it online at www.eveninggazette.co.uk
CLick on the \"parked right in the line of fire\" tinyurl.com/vh38
I was that \"irate motorist\"
I also got support of the editor!! tinyurl.com/vh37

Good on you PR - that is a disgraceful place to park - the copper needs a lesson.

Or someone in a passing transit van needed to 'break down' right behind him thus blocking his view of the road ;-)

A small quote from the paper
A police spokesman said: "The police are carrying out operational duties and they are exempt from parking prohibitions on double yellow lines while doing so."
Are they above the law ?
On the other hand maybe he was moonlighting as a wedding photographer and was just setting his camera up for a passing shot of the wedding car (see picture from article).

Its shocking. The double yellow lines are there because it is dangerous to park. In the name of safety....my ****!

Was the police car taxed? ;-)

The Policeman also has a slipper on one foot!

I think the Evening Gazette has a thing on with crap Cleveland coppers - about 3 weeks ago it ran a front page story headlined "First job of the day is a butty" when they captured 7 beat coppers in 3 cars at a bacon butty van round the corner from the police station, ten minutes after the start of their shift.
The road approaching that junction is very easy to speed on - it is almost a dual carriageway but has a 30 or 40 limit IIRC.

Dont have a problem with a speed camera there. Do have a problem with police parking on double yellows less than 100yds from busy junction, totally blocking a left turn only lane!

Good call PR. If only more of us did something similar...

Yes. Well in, PR! You've restored my faith in some people caring enough about things to do something. Thanks.
