superb, solid, reliable no nonsense bombproof workhorse.

I've had loads of 4x4's over the past 5 yrs,from a 300tdi defender to a discovery 3, plus a couple of fun offroaders.

I made the mistake of buying a disco 3, too complicated for it's own good, and as a result unreliable, and after past experience with the reliablity of jap 4x4's went for a lc4. In the 2 yrs I've owned it it's been superb, returning about 30 mpg over the 20 k i've covered ( total milage 95k), including 1000 mi fully loaded in 3 days in the french alps.

Mechanically and electrically it's not too advanced, and is still simple enough for the diy mechanic to do most jobs, unlike it's rivals from the green oval.

The 4wd system works well off road, with hi and low with centre difflock, and traction control. It'll easily go anywhere you'd dare drive a £10k plus 4x4. On road it's a smooth drive. if a little noisy and perhaps underpowered. Towing it's fine.

All I've replaced is a front caliper ( a known fault ) and the injector seals as a precautionary measure.

All in all a solidly built, ultra reliable proper 4x4.
