A technological marvel

My car facilitates my work, I'm doing around 1,000 miles a month for my business plus private mileage. Having had alot of back problems I ran an old 5 series BMW automatic for a while and it was clear that reducing clutching, particularly in traffic, was benefical. So the hunt was on for a smaller, recent more economical auto under £10k. After alot of research I was all set to go for a nearly new Skoda Rapid with DSG and decent warranty. But, I just couldn't get comfortable in the seat, which to be fair I'm sure would be fine for most people. I knew my back would be aching so reluctantly, I had to rule it out. The Auris Hybrid wasn't on my radar at all but was suggested to me. Sitting in it felt comfortable, that was a good start. The hybrid system is impressive, seamlessly changing between electric and engine power. The engine is a bit thrummy getting it up to speed, but the Auris isn't sluggish. It will make decent progress and can hold its own on the motorway. The controls are light and intuitive. The novelty of navigating urban areas for next to no cost hasn't worn off yet and I'm averaging 60mpg overall without driving like Miss Daisy. Its annoyingly clever, dull, nannying, uninvolving. But it does exactly what I need it to, brilliantly.
