Exactly what I wanted - eventually!

Picked the car up from the dealer, filled it up with diesel, failed to get home (6 miles). After managing to convince him I hadn't filled it up with petrol, dealer found the very small fault and we were away. Then noticed the five years free RAC European cover promised at the time of order had disappeared. After a (surprisingly) short exchange of emails, Hyundai coughed up £400 and the dealer threw in a free service.

After that things improved considerably. I wanted a car that I would fit in comfortably (I'm 6'6" tall and built like the proverbial outhouse), would cope with 15000 miles of motorway driving economically, with the contents of a three week camping holiday in the back. That's what I got.

This is the first diesel I've owned, and to be honest I wasn't really looking forward to it, but the thing does perform reasonably well for this kind of car, and once I started to believe that I should actually be in the gear the computer was telling me I ought to be in, the economy is pretty good. I've done 4000 miles in two months, probably about half of that on the motorway at the limit, and it is averaging 57 mpg. For a big bloke, it is the most comfortable car I've driven in 35 years of driving. For the first time ever, I don't have the seat all of the way back, and my legs actually fit under the wheel.

I'm very pleased with it. Now if only it wasn't so boring!
