Honda Jazz (2001 - 2008)
1.4i SE 5dr Hatchback
Very practical but poor ride, a pain to drive and gearbox failed after just 53k miles.
I bought a Jazz due to its reputed high build quality and reliability. Unfortunately I have been very disappointed with the car. It is without doubt very spacious for a car of its size and reasonably economical. However the ride is very poor and the steering has absolutely no feel; as a result it is very tiring to drive any distance. In addition the gearbox bearings failed after just 53k miles - so much for high build quality and reliability! Also the car does not feel particularly "solid" or well though out. I also own a 1.4 Golf IV (02 reg) which is in a totally different class. Great suspension, a pleasure to drive, very well thought out, feels solid and has been totally reliable as have been the three Golfs I have owned over the last 30 years. I will not buy another Jazz - back to Golfs for me.
