  • Renaults Dear at Auction Today 19 Dec 2001 (News)
Renault Financial Services had a huge section of 150 cars at auction today, but, with strong support from at least one big Renault dealer, none of them were cheap. A pair of S reg old-shape Scenic 1.6 Alize with 42k and 26k miles sold for £6,225 and £6,450. The facelift 8,500 mile 99V 1.6RT in the photo bid to £7,400. A 63,000 mile 98S Laguna 2.0 Executive and a 51,000 mile 98S Megane 1.9RT DTI Sport each sold for £4,500.

  • Lotus Elan Sprint project sells for £25k 3 Aug 2016 (News)
The 1985-registered car, which was finished in gold with brown interior, made just £875 – despite only having four owners and 30k on the clock. Perhaps it was held back by the fact it was recorded as an insurance theft. And a 1987 Ford Escort 1.4 GL with 35k on the clock failed to sell. It was a similar story for a 1988 Ford Sierra 1.6L. Three former keepers, 46k on the clock, and an MoT certificate until March 2017 – but no buyer.
  • Pre-war cars do battle on tough Flying Scotsman rally 23 Apr 2015 (News)
Both team awards went to Bentley crews while the Spirit of The Rally award went to George Melville and Steve Gipson in the Ford Model A Sports Coupe. The Concours D’Elegance award went to Robin and Helen Rainsley in the Ford Model A. The next Flying Scotsman takes place 14-17 April, 2016. The next ERA event sees the team move stateside as 45 crews take part in the second TransAmerica Rally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to San Francisco, California, in June.
  • Fantastic Variety of Unlikely Cars in HRDC Race at Donington 14 Apr 2014 (News)
Early-period cars range from the rarities of David Wylie's Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire and Malcom Verey's Jensen 541R (as raced as a saloon by John Webb in period), to the more familiar Jack Sears-type Austin A95 Westminster of Nick Naismith and the Jeff Uren-style Ford Zephyr Mk2 of Alistair Dyson. Mid-period cars include the rare works-style MG1100 of Steve Atkinson, the original, ex-Lawrencetune Vauxhall VX4/90 of Paul Clayson and the stunning Graham Hill-homage Jaguar Mk2 of Simon Drabble, while the later-era cars are typified by the Alan Mann-liveried Lotus Ford Cortina Mk1 of Howard Wise and the Sir Gawaine Baillie-inspired Ford Falcon of reserve entry Mike Gardiner.  HRDC Founder and Race Director, Julius Thurgood, was upbeat about the forthcoming race: "Now that most historic touring car races are usually polarised by specific models of cars that are considered to be the fastest cars of their type, it is rare to see a greater variety of marques and models competing together.
  • Report: Peking to Paris, day two 29 May 2013 (News)
There is no sign of car number five, the Vauxhall that had engine problems yesterday. Jenny Mah in the Ford Model A is again running far behind the rest of the field and seems unable to keep up. Edgar Haag and Ernest Johnson in the big 1970 Ford Super deluxe was running late for most of the day. And the heavily laden Bentley R-type of the Japanese crew of Kazuyuki Sugiyanma missed a Time Control today, so too did Kimberly Widrick from Canada in a Chevrolet Impala.
  • Big changes on the way for the London Congestion Charge 26 May 2010 (News)
However, extending the exemption to cars under 100g/km means that potentially thousands of owners will now pay nothing. That includes owners of some Ford Fiestas and Focus, Audi A3, Citroen C3, Peugeot 207, SEAT Ibiza and Leon, Volkswagen Polo and Golf and Volvo C30 models - among others. Other changes proposed include scrapping the controversial western Congestion Charge extension.
