  Driven: Toyota Hilux Invincible X 14 Dec 2018 (News)
  Slow and noisy, the 2.4 turbodiesel feels somewhat limp wristed compared to the powerful 200PS 3.2 TDCi that's found in the Ford and 190PS 2.3 dCi in the Nissan. Toyota wins back some valuable points on fuel economy, with a respectable 36.2mpg compared to the Ranger's 32.1mpg. But neither gets close to the 41.0mpg promised by the range-topping Nissan Navara 2.3 190PS N-Guard.  As you might expect from a Hilux, it excels at the business end of things.

  Bryan Johnson to Race Mini Cooper at Croft 28 Jul 2014 (News)
  Bryan is self-confessed ‘car nut’ whose first experience of high-octane action came at Croft when he went to watch an MG race at the North Yorkshire venue in the mid-1960s. “I was 17-and-a-half when I got my first car – a Ford Popular, sit-up-and-beg style and with only three gears,” he recalls. “That August, I was in my home village of Dunston near Gateshead with not much to do, when somebody said there was racing on at Croft – so on a rainy day and with just one windscreen wiper on this Popular, myself and two friends headed down there.

  Lancia Fulvia Coupe victorious in Sahara Challenge 16 Oct 2015 (News)
  In the Vintageant category, it was seasoned rally entrant Bill Cleyndert and his navigator Jacqui Norman who were victorious in the ‘indestructible’ 1928 Ford Model A. Bill has been behind the wheel of the Model A in various events including the Peking to Paris 2013 and all of this year’s ERA event, however the Sahara Challenge was the first rally to see him lift the winner’s trophy.

  Today has seen a lot of activity at the local Bentley dealership here in Kiev, we saw no less than four Bentleys, including the Japanese R-Type still awaiting delivery of the essential head-gasket, with Bill and Mark of car 15 working furiously on getting the rebuilt engine of the Model A Ford 'flyer' running again. One of the media-Toyotas was put to good use in towing the Ford up and down the yard, it ran briefly but clearly there were timing issues and after a few coughs, bangs and back-fires, the engine called it a day.
