  According to Department for Transport figures, there were 186,000 reported casualties and 1732 deaths on Britain’s roads in 2015. However, while reported road deaths are 45 per cent down on a decade ago, road safety charity Brake believes more can be done to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries.  During Road Safety Week, Brake is calling on drivers to Make the Pledge by belting up, slowing down and resisting the urge to use their mobile phone when at the wheel.

  Following an intense bidding war, the car was sold to Mr Davies from Wales, who bought the car as a Christmas present for his wife. First introduced to the public in November 2015, the 1969 Morris Mini Super Deluxe, affectionately named Margo, underwent a sympathetic restoration to return her to her former glory. Lead by the experts at the MG Owners’ Club Workshop, the work lasted seven months and she was in fine fettle for the auction.  Richard Morley, divisional head at Lancaster Insurance, said, ‘Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men with 47,000 men diagnosed every year in the UK and with many of our customers fitting this profile, this project was incredibly important to us. The auction was electrifying and we’re thrilled that Mr Davies was so passionate about being Margo’s new owner that he travelled all the way from Wales to Birmingham, and back again, in one day to be there.’ Mr Davies, Margo’s new owner, said, ‘As soon as I saw Margo in the press I knew she would be a perfect Christmas gift for my wife.

  After being stored in a shed for some years the car was then taken over as a restoration project by Lancaster Insurance and first appeared as a project at the 2015 Lancaster Classic Motor Show. The excellent condition made restoration far more straightforward than it might otherwise have been. The MG Owners’ Club who carried out the work was particularly pleased that the original hydrolastic suspension had already been swapped for the much more reliable rubber cone system.

  Philip died in hospital in Bangkok on Wednesday, 11 March, 2015, following complications arising from a motorcycle accident in Burma. He was 66 years old. Rally director Fred Gallagher said, 'We are planning for this to be true celebration of an amazing man, a happy occasion with words, video footage and pictures to lighten the mood and to make sure that we all remember Philip as the incredible life force and innovator that he was.'

Since April 2015, vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1975 can display the older style marks providing they have applied to DVLA and are recorded within the historic tax class.   But Nissan has had a re-think and as well as a re-style to make the NV200 look like a traditional London Taxi, it has also adopted a 1.6 petrol engine coupled to an automatic transmission. An electriv 'EV' version using Leaf/Zoe components will follow in 2015. Nissan’s newly-redesigned taxi has been developed for London, in London, by Nissan Design Europe (NDE) in Paddington, the same design centre responsible for the Qashqai and Juke.  Nissan already has a pedigree in the London taxi market – its 2.7-litre TD27 diesel engine was fitted to the FX4 ‘Fairway’ and TX1 black cabs during the 1980s and ‘90s and gained a reputation for reliability and durability.
