• End of Life Vehicles - Lost opportunity? 1 Jan 2003 (Forum)
  The going rate for a popular engine of gearbox fit for reconditioning is around £10 to £20. That's how much I received for my scrapped Talbot Horizon engine 10 years ago. ECUs etc are another story. My faulty ABS ECU for my Xantia was worth £60 to a reconditioner. He complained that he couldn't get enough of them to satisfy demand! Oh, and did I mention those items that people would want to buy from breakers - body panels, servicable components etc?

  Want to drive and njoy with Citroen but can't. got scanner and my fault codes is:   Automatic or piloted gearbox: U1213 U0415 P0949 P1800   Engine management ECU: P1350 P1394 P1351   ABS/ESP: C1398 C1320 C1330 C139D U1219   Electronic parking brake: U1213   Any advice please.

  Diagnostics showing weird errors such as ABS fault, brake light fault. Auto electrician suggest that faulty throttle body unit may have damaged ECU or Body control module. He suggests couple of companies local to me that may be able to reprogram these units to clear issues?  Then reading on here someone was saying it could be HASS MAP any help would be gratefully received, as unfortunately mums money tree is wilting :)

  got a problem thats getting on my wits now  1600 ford focus mk1 , idles like you would expect apart from when the a/c is on it is say 50 revs too slow and the car starts to shake and shudder ive replaced idle valve , vac pipe , pcv valve , cleaned the throttle body , reset the ecu by disconecting it , and had it into to ford for them to reset the keep alive memory(kam) on thier suggestion never had any codes or warning lights ive also noted if you idle the car then turn the a/c on it will sit and idle smooth until you rev the car again , then the revs will dip way to low and the isv im guessing catches it and stops it stalling but then back to a low unhappy idle the idle is happy with all other elecs like the heated screens /headlamps full on etc

  The fuel pump runs if I bridge the relay but I still can't get it to fire. I have replaced the ignition coil and module but to no avail. I have been offered a replacement ECU but I'm scared to throw good money after bad. Suggestions warmly received. Pip Dunlop.

   I'm wondering if I just swap out the switch module, will the Auto setting function, or do I need to have the ECU programmed?

  Now my predicament is, since the Mot, the obd port does not work as it should. The power led on the reader lights up but it will not communicate with the ECU, my friend tried his reader with the same results. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

  When i got the car he told me that the instrument does not work and the start does not start. since i am a bit technical i started troubleshooting the vehicle. the cluster is still not displaying, the watch was not displaying but now does after i have removed engine fusebox, ecu, bsi under dash, and made sure that all fuses are not blown and also relays are still ok. what i have realized is the card reader & start button does not have power when i use my test light. the car does not start & the warning light on the instrument panel flashes all the time. sometimes the windows works somtimes they don't. the card locks some doors not all. your help will be highly appreciated.

  have had injectors tested, changed filters, cleaned EGR. I have an F-super 2 diagnostic but it doesn't recognise my ECU, I have tracked the unit and it is a standard Ford unit although seems to be 2002 spec, I have a feeling these late 2004 models were a collection of old bits before they changed engines the following year.Have looked at some of the sensors but nothing obvious.

  I did have a Getz for three years in the noughties, the long warranty and the masses of equipment for the money swayed me, and this was generally trouble free until the warranty ended and the ECU failed. However, the I 20 carries on the good work of the Getz with the same warranty and masses of kit for reasonable money, but one I had as a courtesy car this summer and it seemed far more modern and better made than the Getz, in fact nearly on par with a Volkswagen.

  I have been trying all day to re-set the ecu of the error code and going on runs to see if it finally fixes it's self but no joy, Any help at all please, or a secluded spot and a box of matches.

  Otherwise gear changes are smooth and at "sensible" speeds. I've tried excercising the 3 multi-way connectors to the ECU with no success. Help! Thanks, Roland.

  Hello My wifes car has been off the road and I'm getting a bit desparate HELP   In October it just stopped going up a hill and was recovered home Where my usual Honda trained mobile mechanic established ignition spark ok fuel to injectors ok but fuel did not seem to be getting past the injectors. Atfer more checking the ECU was sent to EUC testing who after 14 working days reported no fault and sent it back. I went to a new garage just started in a barn, close by, and the two young owners said they had both come from the local main Nissan agent.
• Ford Focus 2 1.6 Petrol - Fault Code P0304 29 Aug 2012 (Forum)
  The main Ford main dealer hooked it up to their test equipment today, and diagnosed fault P04304 - misfire on cylinder 4. They replaced one plug lead and all 4 plugs, and reset the ECU. Needless to say, tonight the car was little better. It was hesitant at all speeds, and the management light flashed at over 50mph. It wasn't quite as bad as before, but clearly not right. It will be going back tomorrow, but does anyone know what they are likely to do next.
• Damage caused when parking sensors were fitted 23 Jul 2012 (Forum)
  When the fitter installed the wiring he has dislodged the pipes that prevent water leaking into the boot. As such, water has slowly been leaking in and corroding the ECU component in the boot. I'm absolutely livid as it's going to cost me over £800 to get fixed. Does anyone know where I might stand legally with regards to getting some sort of compensation from the company that fitted the sensors?
• Mazda Tribute - Alarm reset 10 Apr 2012 (Forum)
  On enquiring at my "local" dealer who is 30 odd miles away what this cost would be I was advised that it would be a minimum of £78 + VAT and the service person advised me that she doubted if that would be all it would cost and would more than likely be the ECU that would be found to be at fault  which I find hard to believe as the vehicle has only covered 30,000 odd miles and everything else is working perfectly. Does anyone know how to reprogramme these alarms or do I HAVE to pay out what I feel ,and would be, to my pocket a considerable sum of money?

  hi hope someone can help. i have had my vectra 1.8 2001 model for about a year and had no problems untill now. i used the car around 3 weeks ago and it just cut out at traffic lights it would not start for 10 mins with the light with spanner flashing then it would start and run for 2 mins then run on 3 cylinders then cut out again, it did this 3 times then run fine for a couple of weeks then did the same again, very random, i have replaced the ecu and the coil pack. i have gone out today to use the car and it wont start at all and the light with spanner and the light with the engine on it are flashing rapidly. could it be the airflow sensor?

  I was not far from my son's house so called in and we investigaged using a MacTools code reader. "Throttle Position Sensor Switch A" then a crash code for the ECU to force the car inro limp mode. We reset this and the car was fine. I drove back home but 2 miles later the error re-appeared. I popped into my local Bosch independant but the guy in know as not there.

  I have had conflicting advise from various garages, I'm prepared to buy a recon turbo with actuator but I'm not sure if the problem could be further down the line and be whatever controls the power to the actuator or the ECU. Any advise please?

    My husband has done numerous tests and concluded it is not the turbo itself - all parts are free and move as should! We are now stumped - diagnostics show no fault codes,  we are getting to the point is it the ecu? if any one can advise on anything else  it may be, we would be greatful!! It is back up for sale with faults listed but we would really love to get the problem sorted and keep the car!
