  • How to drive safely in snow and ice 15 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Its a good idea to try to do this every time even in warmer times so that you get into the habit and do it automatically.
  • Renault Laguna Initiale Sports Tourer 2ltr 2006 - Compuetr management problem 21 Feb 2017 (Forum)
My 2006 Renault Laguna Initiale Sports Tourer key-cards are not activating the automatic seat settings for self and wife despite setting the key-cards memory settings separately in the hole and pressing the memory button on the seat and hearing the confirmation tinkle. Everything else works OK.
  • Rover Mini - Import minis and poor old Rover dwindling.. 27 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Anyhow I came across a Jap spec Rover mini. Its a grey import, and they've somehow fitted aircon into it as well as being automatic. Anyone else a bit impressed at the packaging?! Hopefully the link below works.   https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=jap+spec+mini&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiNlp6flq7PAhVROMAKHZ8lB_QQ_AUICCgB&biw=1242&bih=641#imgrc=vPyFnnVuwGaNaM%3A I'd be interested to see how these held up in Japanese temperatures, aircon on and family of 5 + luggage...
  • Lamborghini thread deleted 12 May 2016 (Forum)
Just to apologise to all of you who rightly criticised an OP who failed to read the sticky thread and named and shamed a dealer.  You'll all have got an automatic E-mail - sorry for that. I simply don't have the time to go through all the posts and delete the dealer's name. To the OP - a public forum like this is NOT the place to name and shame a particular business.
  • Tyre repair sealant 3 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Many appealing newer cars now have tyre repair kits.  If I had a puncture I would automatically replace the tyre ( I have known for a long time I'm neurotic ) so that is not a problem. Has anyone had any experiences in which it has been a benefit using a kit ? Is there a difference in quality between what different manufacturers supply ?
  • BMW 320i - Used BMW 320i. What to watch out for? 10 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Hi guys,   This is my first time buying a used car. I saw this pretty good example of a 1991 (J Reg) BMW 320i Sport Automatic. It has 12 months MOT and a full service history. The price seems good, and I'm going to test drive it at the weekend.    Problem is, I'm not 100% sure what to look out for!
  • Hyundai i10 - Goodbye VW hello Hyundai 22 Aug 2015 (Forum)
After lots of Vw's one after the other I wanted a small automatic to replace my manual Polo. I gave up on VW autos when DSG came in. Also in the last few years the dealerships have gone downhill [ apart from mega chrome and glass showrooms of course] I have now ordered a Hyundai i10 Auto. This has an 'old fashioned 4 speed traditional box.
  • Vauxhall Zafira comfort 2004 - Ignition problem 25 Jan 2015 (Forum)
i have 2004 automatic transmission zafira 1.8. i had a problem that it started with varrying revs and juddered when put into gear and some times moved very lazily. may be going into limp home mode. my technician said it is the problem about spark plugs and ignition coils. i have changed them but now it has got worst. i starter but just gets switched off in the next ten seconds. i am unable to even move it because it is never staying switched on. i put back the old spark plugs and coil as well but problem  persisits. if somebody can help me on this matter?
  • Any - Long Term Investment 9 Jun 2014 (Forum)
I am looking to purchase an estate car that would not necessarily do high mileage - 8K to 10K a year so petrol would be the order of the day. I am an old f*** so an automatic would be useful and I will look after the car. It would be well looked after and I would plan on keeping it a long time (potentially running it into the ground) so longevity and long term reliability are key factors for me.
  • BMW 5 Series E60 - DPF 21 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Having been a very happy 520SE auto petrol owner for the last 15 years, i am looking at buying a stunning BMW 520DSE Automatic with 69k on a 60 plate which has already been serivced 3 time and looks to have done mainlly motorway driving. BUT I have seen worrying reports about the DPF. I only drive between 10-20 miles a day on a motorway so will may reach  70mph for about 5 mins. occasional longer drives.
  • Mazda MX5 2003 - Correct Coolant Fluid 24 Feb 2014 (Forum)
HJ's car review states that the MX5 (2005-) needs a special coolant fluid. My 2003 Miata is an 1.8L automatic and I'm assuming that the same rule applies. I have, without luck, tried to find out what is the specification of this special fluid. Apart from Google I also bought a copy of the workshop manual (onCD).
  • Vauxhall Corsa 2008 - Headlight bulb problem 31 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Hi all,  when I started the car the other day, the driver's side (dipped) headlight came on, then after about 2 seconds, the passenger side came on. I tend to leave the lights on automatic setting mostly. Driving along, I noticed that the passenger side light went off, then came back on after about a minute or so, then went off altogether. I assume that the bulb has 'gone'. I only replaced this bulb a month ago and the driver's side a month before that.
  • VW Mk 7 Golf TDI 2.0 SE dsg. - Very Disappointed 1 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I only seem to get 350/400 miles per full tank but my old Mk5 GTD dsg did 600/650 per tank. It also seems to labour in high gears when it should automatically change down. Have spoken to them at VW UK and was told they are all like this, is that correct or will they eventually recall cars for a replacement ECU or a remap. I thought new cars were meant to be getting more efficient but in this case (40 mpg) they are not .

  • peugeot 306 - Peugeot 306 ignition lock change 6 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Hi guys, Have a pug 306 hdi and a couple of days ago the spring return in the ignition barrel went sloppy and won't return to it's correct position automatically so went to a scrappy today and got another barrel together with it's key. Trouble is after we fitted it the car will turn over properly but won't start. I presume this is something to do with the immobilizer transponder so put the old lock and key back in and sure enough the car started first time.
  • VW Sharan 1.9 tdi 2006 - HELP.. Engine Codes 28 May 2012 (Forum)
Ive noticed that AJM and AUY codes seem to have the same layout / kp / hp, But unsure if they will slot into my Automatic Sharan. My old engine has served me proud covering a whopping 184k. The car is still mint thoughout and would be a shame to let die. Please any advise would be great.
  • Any - Have you got an incorrect vehicle tax disc? 28 Mar 2012 (Forum)
http://www.southamonline.org.uk/node/323   If your vehicle tax disc expired at the end of March this year and you have already renewed it, have a look at the expiry date , and  if it reads 30.03.13 then it is invalid . You should be automatically be sent a corrected disc for display dated 31.03.13 for as you know, of course, there are 31 days in March. If this hasn't happened already  please take your incorrect disc to where you obtained it and a new correct one will be issued free of charge.
