  • BMW X5 - Comprehensive warranty 14 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I have a BMW X5 3.0 diesel, just coming up to its fifth birthday. I got a quote for BMW Insured Warranty Comprehehsive cover for next year, and it quoted £926.71 for a year with £100 excess for a car with 50,000 miles, but said to log in to the BMW warranty site for an exact quote. I did, and entered my mileage which is 68,355.
  • 98 Rover 216 CVT box problems 23 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi, My mothers Rover has developed a problem. The gearbox is constantly noisy when in park, and the car has started to stall intermittently when you open the throttle to pull away. The reason for posting is that we have been advised to scrap the car because it is uneconomical to repair. This goes against the grain because the car has been in the family since new, covering only 32,000 miles and is immaculate.
  • Fines for parking on private property 20 Dec 2010 (Forum)
It cost me £550 to get the car back! I am currently in the process of appealing the fine and have taken a picture of one of the signs which state it is private property which is covered in snow. I plan to take the firm to a small claims court if I am not re-imbursed but wondered if you had any pointers/tips for the process.
  • Nissan Almera - First Car - Insurance 3 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Evening  folks, Not long past test (29, yes I left it late) and got my first car today.  After numerous searching for motoring forums I've came across this handy little site that looks very active. Anyway, at the moment I'm covered under the dealerships Aviva 7 day policy so I've got just over 6 days to get my own policy set up.

  • Model cars. 17 May 2009 (Forum)
Was in the model shop in Altrincham today collecting my Christmas present from SWMBO, an OO gauge LMS Patriot class loco , available ,at long last ,in LMS red. I was gricing some of the cars and thought how detailed they are nowadays. Although not a collector, I do have about 35 of the Models of Yesteryear from the 70s, all boxed and mint , plus an OO7 Aston and a Dinky RR Phantom in a plastic see-through cover.
  • BMW 5-Series E60 (2003 - 2009) - 06 2.0 alloy wheels & body work warranty 7 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I have never washed the wheels with anything other than car shampoo (i.e no Wonder Wheels type chemicals). The car is three years old today, but the bodywork warranty is 6 yrs, so my question is Are wheels normally covered by a body work warranty? Does anyone have any experience of claiming succesfully for wheels?
  • Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 2004 2.2 petrol - Excessive rear tyre wear 7 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Car is a 2004 2.2 Sri Direct.Car has covered 50k miles.Due its MOT so went over the car yesterday only to find that the Hankook Ventus Sports 225/45 x 17 tyres I had fitted only 15k miles ago have worn on the inside edge of the rears. Both showing similar wear but the nearside tyre is perhaps slightly worse.Previous tyres were 215/50 x 17 Goodyears and they lasted 35k.The car has never been bumped or to my knowledge, hasn't hit any potholes.
  • Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 01 2.0 turbo erratic idle whilst cold. 15 Aug 2008 (Forum)
The car has covered 91k mls. I also believe volvo intercoolers were prone to pin holes and corrosion on the diesel models, but does anyone know if this also affected petrol intercoolers as well. Thanks James slt
  • Insurance Scam?? 3 Mar 2007 (Forum)
It took them 2 weeks to get the parts, but they were in stock (I checked) for 2-day delivery at the manufacturer's part centre. Then they took another week to fit them. And when I got the car back, they did not even replace the washer bottle but I was charged for it (and laboutrtoo): the old one's still in the car ('cos it's still covered in road muck, and is still dented after the accident).
  • Fiesta '96(P) 1.8D takes ages to start! 10 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I have a 1996 (P) mark IV Fiesta with the 1.8 Endura diesel engine which has covered (allegedly) 50,000 miles from new. I have only owned the car a month and in that time had it serviced, which included oil & filter change, air filter change, fuel filter change, cam belt change, brake fluid and engine coolant replacement and today changed the glow plugs.

  • Audi 80 stopped! 11 Mar 2002 (Forum)
There I was, after a long hard week (Wednesday in Birmingham, Thursday in Bradford, Friday in Watford), cooking up a 'Kofta Bhuna', when the wife (some call them SWMBO, but I don't know what this means - is it Short Wife Might Bale Out? *having an amphibious car?*) called up to say that the car had broken down. Well, I put the cat out, put the lid on the cooking and went to investigate. A quick check with a key stuffed up a plug lead showed no spark. The engine turns over beautifully and (paranoia in charge) I even prised over the cam belt cover and *yes!
  • Missing Data Sticker for imported Golf 16 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Has anyone else been in this situation and if so, how did you mange to register your car with VW in the end? I'm currently chasing Oneswoop who supplied my car to get this sorted but they are next to useless with their aftersales care.....still haven't got an owners manual after two months of asking :( Thanks Chi
  • Reversing Sensors 30 Jun 2001 (Forum)
At £300 fitted it is rather rather expensive but it uses four sensors all mounted in the rear bumper and covers a wrap-around area to the side and rear of the car. The visual indicator uses a series of green, amber, and red lights to indicate the proximity of obstructions to the rear and side rear of the car in addition to the usual aural warning, I have found it to be extremely accurate and reliable and it has been an absolute boon in the A Class where rearward vision is poor.
  • 2005 Audi A4 - Audi A4 issues, should I pursue costs against deal 29 May 2012 (Forum)
I've been told I shouldn't drive this car, which I'd pretty much stopped anyway due the diesel smell in the cabin. The car cost £6k and now I'm facing a significant cost outlay to make it driveable, whic I can't afford to do. I'm assuming the warranty, if it exists (no evidence of this either) covers mechanical failure and prrobably wont cover this?
  • Hard Use Electric Car Range 16 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Anyone with an electric car got practical knowledge? Other times I've had e-car enthusiasts giving me favourable figures. A car to me is just like white good, it performs a function. I'd love to get an insightful answer to my question!
  • Dealer hasn't settled finance on PX 9 May 2014 (Forum)
Don't want to give specifics in case I have to get legal people involved, but  I recently traded in my previous car as PX for a different make/model at an independent dealer. New car is great, finance on new car sorted no problem.  As part of the PX there was negative equity on the value of the car I traded in versus the PX valuation which I covered as part of the PX deal.
