Revealed: the premium cars you can buy for Ford Focus money 5 Sep 2019 (News)
>> Best Pre-Reg and Nearly New Car Deals While diesel cars don't suit everyone, if you cover high miles (more than 12,000 a year) and regularly drive at motorway speeds for extended periods (30 minutes or more), they still make sense. The latest Euro6 diesels are much less polluting than older models, meaning they're still allowed within Ultra Low Emission Zones being rolled out across UK cities. -
A Grand Monday: Toyota Starlet 4 Mar 2019 (News)
They handle pretty well, too - like so many Japanese cars of its era, the Starlet 80 is far more fun to drive than it looks like it should be. This example has covered almost 100,000 miles, but is completely rot-free, as its MoT history testifies. -
A Grand Monday: Nissan Micra K10 18 Feb 2019 (News)
. The K10 was a supermini that wasn’t just up there with the best that Europe had to offer, but was better than many. It was well packaged, fun to drive, had a very pleasant gearshift and a dash layout that, while dated by modern standards, featured a modern ‘grid’ graphic background that was considered so evocative of the microcomputer generation that Austin-Rover copied it for the Metro. It was also as reliable as clockwork, and was also one of the first Japanese cars to not give the Alfasud a run for its money in a rusting competition. -
A Grand Monday: Honda Ballade 4 Feb 2019 (News)
. If it was good enough for Hyacinth Bucket, it was good enough to drive the Rover image upmarket, while the Honda-engineered reliability also made the small saloons run like clockwork. Were it not for rampant corrosion, something the Japanese hadn’t quite got their heads around in the 1980s, both the Honda and its Rover sibling would have been great cars. Yet while most Brits of a certain age can identify with the Rover 200, the Ballade is a real obscurity - a forgotten car, yet one that’s also still usable. -
A Grand Monday: Rover 416 GSi 28 Jan 2019 (News)
The best thing about these R8s isn’t just the value for money they offer, but also the way in which they drive - ignore the unashamedly turn-of-the-Nineties styling, and you have a car that will mix it all day long with modern traffic, and in 1.6-litre manual form, with a decent turn of pace as well. It surely can’t be long before these cars really catch on, so snap one up while they’re still great value for money. Read our Rover 400 review and buyer's guide How many Rover 400s survived? -
A Grand Monday: Honda Concerto 14 Jan 2019 (News)
s=carAndClassic&id=C1068976" target="_blank">This example is a rare rust-free survivor and appears to be in rude health, with just 53,000 miles on the clock and an advisory-free MoT behind it. The cabin will be instantly familiar to anyone who’s ever driven an R8, but the driving experience is oddly different, with a firmer ride, lighter steering and the indicator and wiper column stalks swapped round. No, we’ve no idea why, either. At £995, it’s probably all the money. -
A Grand Monday: Mercedes-Benz E300D 10 Sep 2018 (News)
. Regarded by many as the last ‘true’ Mercedes, certainly in terms of overall build quality and longevity, the 124 is one of those cars that’s neither sensational to drive, nor particularly exciting. However, it’s also a car that does exactly what it says on the tin, but also does so peerlessly well. Like a comfortable pair of slippers, once you’ve got a 124, you really don’t want to get rid of it. -

Replica Alan Partridge Rover 800 for sale 7 Jun 2017 (News)
. The graffiti is actually a wrap and so is easy enough to remove from the five-door automatic. With 86,000 miles on the clock, the seller says it drives smoothly and has a good service history. The car is fitted with air-conditioning and has electric front windows (although one of the switches needs replacing). Played by comedian Steve Coogan, Alan Partridge parodied various television personalities and was renowned for being tactless and inept. -
