Honda Jazz - Loud engine (I think) noise 6 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I check the oil levels regularly and only looked 2 weeks ago and the oil levels were fine so I don't think it was that. I don't drive my car very hard, and I drive it about 4 hours a week. Does anyone have any experience of this? I am probably going to have to take it to a garage to have it looked at. Do you recommend I go to a honda garage or would it matter? -
All vehicles and all drivers - When is a speed limit not a speed limit? 24 May 2011 (Forum)
When I took an advanced driving course many years ago the advice then, was to "flash" the brake lights to alert the following car that they are driving too close, and obviously to pull over and let the real idiots go by, but I am not so sure that flashing the reds would be taken too kindly by some of the mean-minded, selfish, out of control drivers displaying their lack of driving skills/finesse. -
Ford Mondeo ST220 2003 - Engine stops whilst driving and wont restart 14 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The engine turns over and the starter motor will engage (tried it in first gear and it pulls the car forward slightly) but it wont fire up into life. Also on three occassions after driving the car fine from cold in the morning, when returning to the car it wont start with the same symptons. THe car has been into the main dealer twice and they could not find any faults, its currently in there again as my wife now refuses to drive it anymore (probably a safe decision). -
Lötschberg tunnel - Any experiences? 19 Jan 2010 (Forum)
ve never heard of this tunnel but it does avoid Mont Blanc tunnel. http://www.bls.ch/e/autoverlad/goppenstein.php This is a drive on (similar to Eurotunnel but with open trucks) car transporter train that costs 16euros e/w and takes 15 minutes and runs from Kandersteg to Goppenstein where you drive off and complete your route into Italy via the Simplon Pass. -
Replacement car - advice wanted please 14 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I currently drive a Honda Civic 1.6 (03 reg). I have no particular problems with the car, other than the noise level when driving - but I know that's a feature of that model/engine. I have been having problems with my knees for some time - and I didn't think I was that old! -
KIA Sedona (2006 - ) - 2007 2.9TD Auto - short test drive 15 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Dashboard seems to be reasonably well laid out, although climate control buttons are too numerous, with the least used bottons as big s the ones that are used frequently. Driving - wow - quick off the mark for anything, diesel, auto or both. Remarkably smooth and quiet inside although I think it s lot noisier outside. A shot drive revealed it to be reasonably adept over potholes and speed bumps - again better than the Trajet. -
Very costly phone call. 11 May 2007 (Forum)
Found this on the Avon and Somerset Police website. Have never considered that anyone would drive an expensive premium vehicle round with no insurance (unless that was the original asking price and is now old and worth a fraction of that). ADDED: 4/05/2007 9:54 A man caught using his mobile phone while driving not only received three penalty points and a £60 fine, but had to endure watching his £60,000 Mercedes sports car being towed off to a storage compound. -
Driving with no tax or M.O.T 8 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I phoned up a garage I trust and they said the car could come in a week later. During this time my tax also expired and I still had to drive my car to get to work. I now happily have a valid M.O.T certificate and will be getting my tax done on saturday. Forgive me for driving an unroad worthy, (and thus prehapps uninsured?) can without tax), but it can easily be done. -
Driving a Foreign Car in Britain 27 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Obviously if I get stopped by a copper thats different? What can a copper do to me as I have a Spanish driving licence? 2) From personal experience which route is better for crossing the Channel? I am looking at Dunkirk/Dover or Calais/Dover on the Seacat. Or the tunnel? 3) As I have "European"(sic) Spanish plates I don't need to put a stupid E sticker on my car do I? -
Driving and texting 21 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Anyway, what did she do today? Had her third "driving in to the back of somebody else" in eighteen months, this one whilst admitting (to hubby and my wife) that she was replying to a text she had just received at the time. Serious damage to both cars this time. -
Insurance for test drives 31 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I'm about to try selling my car privately, and I'm confused about the advice I've read about insurance when a potential buyer's taking my car for a test drive. As long as the buyer's got comprehensive cover on his car, they ought to have 3rd party cover to drive my car, so if he runs someone over he's covered. But what about the more likely scenario of an accident causing damage to my car? -

Horrible Cars 24 Sep 2003 (Forum)
What are other people's experiences of driving a truly horrible car? I've had to make do with the Golf again this weekend, as the beloved and famous Astra has gone up to the wilds of the North West of England again. Yesterday I managed to avoid driving completely, and even managed walking round to the local corner shop, for which Volvoman will be truly proud of me. -
Unintentional Acceleration Syndrome 6 Jun 2001 (Forum)
If I experienced no confusion at all switching from left foot braking an auto to left foot clutching a manual then it can't be a problem for most people. Yet driving instructors, even so-called "driving experts" and car salesmen all persist in telling automatic drivers to forget their left feet and drive only with the right. HJ -
Corsa - Rough idle , unstable drive. Some soot from exhaud 21 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Drive well for a couple of days and now I am starting to feel the rough idle again! Also when driving I can feel little bursts of power like I am lifting foot and putting back on gas. Sort of jerks a bit. -
Jaguar XE - Extended test drive - Petrol 2L (240PS) 27 Aug 2015 (Forum)
is pretty good, certainly powerful enough but for me it's missing something. I think this is because I'm comparing it to several years of diesel car driving with the low down torque available at almost an instance. However, by the end of a 3 hour drive the petrol engine was growing on me more and more. The satnav takes a bit of getting used to and I still haven't quite got it tailored for my needs but it's certainly an improvement on the XF I owned from 2010 for a couple of years. -
Daily Mail - Drink Driving 22 Jul 2013 (Forum)
£145 costs, no fine just a drink awareness course and a ban that can be reduced? If driver is an alcoholic what is she doing with a driving licence? -
Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDI S (2005) - Oil Pressure light, dealer advised 'drive on'... 17 Feb 2013 (Forum)
The Car has full Audi SH, but interestingly when the light came on (orange) he rang his local Audi garage, and asked if he was ok to drive on - he was asked in return if the light was orange or red - he replied that it was orange, and was told that as long as it was not red, he was ok to drive on a moderate distance, and did so (round 10 miles) for the purpose of returning the car to the garage. -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol - Help!!! Please....astra mk4 no power 17 May 2011 (Forum)
i woke up one morning and was planning a day out with the wife and kids and had trouble starting it but after about 10 mins it started. was driving along and noticed it sounded alot deeper than normal, only to realise that over night some cheeky fu**er had stolen my bore exhaust. Was told that it would be fine to drive if i could put up with the noisse and rich smell of petrol so we decided to carry on driving it but noticed it was slightly sluggish due to the obvious no back pressure. -
Crashed Pagani Zonda, would you beleive it! 29 Mar 2010 (Forum)
In this case the driver is professional racing driver, surely someone who knows this by instinct, and who would moderate his driving according to the tarmac condition beneath him, bhe reading the road ahead, noting hazards and driving accordingly. It was not the "road that caused the crash", it was the driver not recognising the hazard presented.
