A expensive battery replacement 11 Apr 2001 (Forum)
My friend is looking for a replacement battery for his Renault Megane Scenic diesel 1900 turbo 1998. The battery on this vehicle is under the drivers seat and must be according to Renault a Gel filled battery for safety reasons. These are very expensive but only carry a 12 month warranty. -

Renault Clio E-tech hybrid - Impressions after the first 1000 miles 21 Apr 2024 (Forum)
I had been considering downsizing to a smaller automatic car for a while. After seeing the new generation Clio at my local Renault dealer, I arranged a test drive of the E-tech version and decided to get one. My verdict, Love it. Quick off the mark, pulls away in electric mode, engine fires up seamlessly when needed, nice smooth auto box that 'creeps' at low speed just like a torque convertor transmission. -
Renault Clio - First car advice... 4 Apr 2017 (Forum)
I've only ever owned one French car, a 1998 Renault Scenic, and despite discovering after purchase that the model had a pretty awful reputation, it wasn't too bad. Perhaps we were just lucky. Would any Clio owners, past and present, or anyone else who has first hand knowledge of the brand, please favour me with their experience of older Clio ownership in terms of problems, pitfalls, even advantages? -

Renault Laguna 1.9Dci power dips 28 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi Folks I have a 2001 Renault LaGuna 1.9DCi i recently started to suffer from dips in power, driving a long i would press the accelerator and there would be no power after a few seconds the engine managment light would come on, i would stop the car, restart and everything would be ok for a while. so last week i took the car to a Renault Main dealer, he diagnosed the EGR valve and No 3 Injector needed replacing £636.36 Parts and Labour, at the weekend i took the car for a run to Newcastle low and behold the fault raises it's ugly head again so i stop the car and it goes away, I returned the car to the main dealer this morning just been on the phone to them and they told me it needs further new parts, there is a rip in the intercooler wall. a further £357.00 I beleive that the rip in the intercooler wall is either the original fault or has been caused when the EGR valve has been replaced. -
Renault Megane II (2002 - 2008) - 04 1.5 dci (80) Fuel pump 8 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I thought that it would be adviseable to let all the megane/renault drivers on here know that there is a problem with the high pressure fuel pump with renault. I have recently had problems starting my 54 Plate megane and took it into the dealers last week thinking that the injectors were clogged up or something. -
Renault Megane II - Periodic start up problems 24 Dec 2011 (Forum)
The car has had diagnostics checks run on it (which did not identify a fault) and my garage seem at a loss (local none Renault garage) but suggest replacing various sensors/part and hoping it solves the problem! Before 'splashing my cash' I was hoping for a little more encouragement that the problem would be solved. -
Renault Modus (2004 - ) - 05 1.6 Batt drains overnight, on random occasions 29 Sep 2010 (Forum)
A friend. let's call him Don, has a Renault Modus petrol automatic. At random, he will come out to it in the morning and find the battery flat or virtually flat; won't turn the starter motor anyway. A jumplead start and it will go, and be fine again for days/weeks. -
Renault Megane II (2002 - 2008) - 05 1.9 Intermittent Electrical Fault 3 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Same thing happended again Wednesday having parked and then trying to re-start a few moments later. I've take the car into a renault accredited service centre to undertake a diagnostic but my bet is it will not tell them anything. Having trawled this forum and the internet it seems that renaults are famed for electrical problems. -
Renault Megane II (2002 - 2008) - Headlamp Bulbs 28 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I am told other manufacturers, including Rover, require this under-the-wheelarch contortionist, small handed but long fingered, working blind technique. Come to think of it I do seem to remember one of the Renault technicians didn't half remind me of ET. -
1987 Renault 5 ... cutting-out 17 Jan 2006 (Forum)
My Renault is no longer starting. For the past two weeks it has been cutting out whilst I've been driving. To start with it would re-start staright away. Then it would take a couple of minutes before it re-started. -
Renault madness 10 Jan 2006 (Forum)
We bought a Renault Grand Scenic (7 seater) Last year...Nice looking car, great features, okay to drive. I was only concerned about two things. 1. It has an automatic parking brake. (A kind of fly-by-wire device)... -
2018 - Dacia duster parts 12 Feb 2024 (Forum)
They usually blamed the dealer (a franchise of Renault). The franchise dealer were at least forthcoming to me but not brilliant at keeping me in the loop. It didn't really seem that the franchise and customer care at Renault spoke to eachother and relied on me doing all the donkey work. -
Renault Drive test drives - great idea 21 Jul 2016 (Forum)
OK, before anti Renault people pooh pooh the ideas, I will admit that I like Renaults both from the past and now. But I also like other makes too. However, one thing I don't like in general is part of the car choosing and buying process where you simply want to test drive a car but find that you invariably have to do so with a salesman accompanying you. -
Renault Clio 1.2 Dynamique petrol 16v - Clio emissions light permanently on, car sluggish 27 Jun 2010 (Forum)
It is my misfortune to have a 2004 Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v which has been suffering from (a) constant emissions warning light on dashboard and (b) feeling sluggish. I've taken it to several garages, including a main Renault dealer, but nobody seems able to (a) tell me what the problem is or (b) give me a quote for fixing it that will cost less than the car is worth. I took it to one garage who plugged in their diagnostic machine, tried changing the ignition coil, but when that didn't work recommended I take the car to Renault instead (they didn't charge me for their labours, which was very decent of them). -
Renault Clio - Steel rims repair - will this pass? 2 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Took my car into the garage today for a new tyre and mechanic proudly declared he'd bashed out a dent in my steel rim as he knew the MOT was coming up....
