  John agreed, and quickly realised that the official factory manual was not designed to help the average car owner. He bought a camera and captured the process of dismantling and rebuilding the engine. The use of step-by-step photo sequences linked to exploded diagrams became the trusted hallmark of Haynes Manuals. The first Haynes Manual, for the Austin-Healey Sprite, was published in 1966, and the first print run of 3000 sold out in under three months.

    Crash cams An in-car camera seems to me to be potentially useful not just to provide evidence in the event of an accident, but also to record the kind of idiotic behaviour by other road users that deserves to be reported. However, it concerns me that all the advertisements I have seen appear to show the camera weirdly positioned in the middle of the windscreen.

  On one hand a Mercedes C Class AMG which has a 1.6 litre 156HP petrol engine and automatic transmission, and on the other hand a Mercedes E Class Style version, that is a base model, lacking some creature comforts; without panoramic sunroof, adaptive LED lights, rear camera, etc. The C Classis a new model and I think it will last for 5 more years before a change. But the E Class may well be changed in the next year. The prices are approximately the same. Which one is the more logical for buying?

  Preferably 19". 20" barely acceptable. 21" just stupid bling that give a poor ride, wear the very expensive tyres badly and are most susceptible to rim and tyre damage. The surround camera system is a useful extra.   Sensorship issue I bought a 2008, E90 BMW 318i just short of six months ago from a garage in Northwood, which is 80 miles from where I live.

    Court in the act My company has just been fined £800 in Cardiff Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to a charge of failing to provide the details of the driver of a company car caught by a speed camera on the M4. Fair enough, this was a stupid unintentional mistake. However, the driver whose details were eventually provided to the court is escaping fine and penalty points as they are taking no action against him.
