Keyfob won't open doors, although key LED comes on and key battery OK. The key turns round in the lock without opening the door. There had been a problem the previous day with a loose battery terminal / flat battery which was charged up. Anyone got a clue how to get into the car?
  • FIAT Barchetta (1995 - 2004) - Changing the battery 14 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hi chaps, quick question. When I put a new battery on the Barchetta tomorrow, do I have to use any kind of oil (for example) on the join between cable and terminal, or do the leads just clip and screw on? Anything I should be aware of - dos and don´ts?
  • identifying battery age 1 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Happy new year everyone, hope this is in the correct forum but does anyone know how to identify the age of a Varta car battery type A7 part 536 046 030. The code embosed into the plastic top is G5B9710130186. Iam quessing that from this code a manufacturing date can be decoded. There is also a bar code 016487 102183 but this could easily be a shop code for point of sale.
  • Peugeot 306 1.8 se cabriolet 2001 - Battery problems 29 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I recently bought a new car and decided to garage the peugeot (which has been working fine) everything excellent never any problems. I went  to run up the engine after 3 weeks but the battery was flat (maybe I left something on or not).  After the charge she fired up and I ran the car. No probs. Checked all lights were off etc. The next day I thought I would give the battery a check..
  • FIAT Punto Evo - Remote key fob battery only lasting 3 weeks 24 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Car is 8 months old. After 6 months of ownership the key fob battery needed replacing. Now the batteries (CR2032) are only lasting 2-3 weeks before they discharge. I'm using Panasonics, not Poundland ones. The keyfob hasn't sustained any damage or immersion in water.
  • Ford Mondeo IV - Low battery 27 Mar 2010 (Forum)
So, I am wondering if there could be a problem with the battery or if, because of the lack of driving recently, it might have just not been charged enough. However, I would really expect to be able to leave the car for a few months, without running it and not come back to find a flat battery.
  • Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 2001 2.0 HDI (110) - Battery drain 1 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hi everyone, this is my first time putting a posting on the forum. I have a problem with my 2001 Xantia Hdi. Something is draining the battery over about 2 days. This appears to be through the 15amp main relay circuit fuse under the bonnet. When you remove the fuse there is not battery drain but you cannot start the car. The main ECU double relay has been replaced along with the glow plug relay but still the drain occurs.
  • BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - 03 2.5 Flat Battery how to get into boot? 14 Apr 2009 (Forum)

  • Vx Vectra battery & Alarm 17 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Hi Well last nights cold snap was enough to kill off the original battery which is 7 years old in my Vectra. Pretty good going in my book. I have a 98 GLS with the factory fit alarm & immobilizer. It has a graphic which indicates that the alarm goes off when the battery is removed.
  • Bad things and threes. 17 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Then I tried to start it and it wouldn't start but it proceeded to remove the last remaining breath of life in the battery. But it did unstick the clutch so I could get it out of gear so a little ray of sunshine. I sent my dad off to go get another battery and some jump leads. Tried those, same thing, now we had two flat batteries.

  • Chrysler Grand Voyager - flat battery 27 Nov 2019 (Forum)
I have repeated problems with a flat battery on our 2006 Chrysler Grand Voyager 2,8 Turbo Diesel, usually after the car hasn't been used for a few days. Battery has been tested and always charges quickly after a jump start from another car.
  • Ford Focus Titanium X 2ltr 2012 reg' - replacing a silver calcium car battery on my ford 7 May 2018 (Forum)
Having posted yesterday regarding a battery problem, I have decided to replace the battery having no success trying to charge it. I have looked online and am confused with Silver Calcium and Calcium, as some sites say must be Silver Calcium replacement others say it only needs to be Calcium as the difference is minimal, Before I jump in I thought I would try and get a bit of advice from non bias people who may have had the same problem. thanks.

  • Mercedes 2002 Diesel Auto E class "Elegance" - Battery 6 Dec 2016 (Forum)
I remeber driving the old Dodge postal vans and having to be towed /jumped started on freezing mornings.. My question/curiosity is , does the cold weather actually drain the diesel  battery , for example , lets assume you left the car for a week or 2 in cold conditions but returned when it was above freezing perhaps , as an example, 1o degrees or so..Would the previous cold nights affect a physical  drain on the diesel battery , or, would it start as you left it. , Brain.

  • Citroen C4 5 door, 2006 - Key programming 29 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Horror!    The remote key battery had gone flat.   At 74, I don't have a lot of strength in hands, so a friend took out the battery and said I could buy another.   Halfords told me yesterday that once battery is takenout, the new battery has to be rinserted within 10 minutes,.
  • Ford Ka - RAC tell me its alternator, not so sure now! 8 Sep 2013 (Forum)
My wifes Ka broke down and the RAC guy told me it was the alternator - so had the alternator changed. Started the car after changing alternator and gave it a good drive to try to charge the battery back up, but as soon as I stopped and tried starting the engine again - NOTHING!  I've tried charging the battery at home but it loks like the battery has gone down in charge! Could it have been the battery all along?
