BMW - SWMBO bored with our 240-260 bhp MKV Golf GTi DSG 14 Aug 2007 (Forum)
The car in question must be reasonably practical, fast (ie more than the Golf which is lackluster at best despite it's handling prowess) and not too old or unreliable. I only see the two BMW's as options- which would you pick and why? -
BMW E46 Oil Change Frequency 27 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I have noticed people often seem to comment on this forum about oil change frequency (so apologies if this has been done to death: I did search first). My 2 litre petrol BMW has the standard variable servicing indicator but as a general rule under normal driving conditions I think this is around the 15,000 mile mark between services. So my obvious question is - should I ignore my clever car telling me it doesn't need new oil for another 10,000 miles (even though it's already done 5,000 miles on it's current oil)? -
E32 BMW 7 series 24 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Just been offered an old Bmw 735 E32 1988 7 series for about £700. Tempted to buy it as a second car for a bit of fun, however the car by car breakdown doesn't seem too happy about these cars, suggesting I should get it checked out by a specialist before I part with any money. -
Which car would you choose, & why? 12 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Any experience of these models (obviously not one the 330d yet, but others)? Audi A4 3.0 TDi S-Line Quattro Audi A4 3.2 FSi S-Line Quattro BMW 330i M Sport BMW 330d M Sport (231bhp) BMW 530d M Sport (now 231bhp too) The Audi is in my opinion the best looking, and has lots of kit. The 3-series looks like a Korean car from the back, although the M Sport version arrives in October, maybe that will look better, and the 5-Series will be expensive on Company car tax due to its high list price, even if the CO2 is lower than the Audi. -- Neil T Mondeo Ghia TDCi 130 Estate, SEAT Toledo 20VT Sport, Various Montegos... -
BMW etc model designation policy 10 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Hi, I am getting a bit fed up with 318's having a 2.0l engine, C180's and C200's both being 1.8s, Saab 93 1.8t and 2.0t both being 2.0l. BMW 316's have been 1.6, 1.9 and 1.8 in that order!, 320's have been 2.0 then 2.2 if petrol though still 2.0 if diesel! Now take the 5 Series 6 cyl models only, we have has the 520 2.0/150bhp and the 525 2.5/192, then we had the 523 2.5/170 and 528 2.8/193, then we had the 520 2.2/170, the 525 2.5/195 and the 530 3.0/231. -
Boring BMW's 11 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Have just spent a Sat a.m. at the local BMW showroom, ostensibly to view the bikes and take a test ride (uninteresting and elephantine, never liked 'em, and very dubious handling on today's wet concrete roads -- c of g too high IMO and riding position designed for a double jointed Draconian dwarf with no thought given to accommodating the beer belly) but had another look at the X5. -
American Car Reliability 21 Nov 2004 (Forum)
For instance the Consumer Report lists the Jaguar S-Type and Jaguar X-Type at the top of the LEAST reliable listings for mid-range cars; this list also includes the Merc S, E, & C Classes and BMW 5 & 7 Series. (Although how Mercedes S Class & BMW 7 Series are listed as 'mid range' cars beats me.) In the JD Power survey Jaguar are 2nd MOST reliable, BMW 4th and Merc 10th - all with reliability above average. -
BMW - poor radio reception 7 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Car in question is E30 BMW with decent Kenwood head unit, upgraded Kenwood speakers and separate amp for small sub in boot. Have never relly used the radio much as I prefer to listen to CDs. The sound system is fantastic when playing a CD but have recently tried the radio and the quality was rubbish compared to the CD playback. -
BMW E34 warning gong 25 May 2004 (Forum)
BMW E34 525 1989. Feeling pleased with myself after using the DIY method of resetting the service indicator board lights for the first time, I thrusted my surge of enthusiam toward finding out why the in-built alarm chime doesnt chime when I (occasionally)forget to switch off my headlights. -
wheels and tyres. bmw 328i 2 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I\'ve just had my E36 328i (97 R) lowered with a sports suspension kit, Bilstien (wow what a difference to the drive)what advise i need is, my wheels are 225/45/17 motorsport evo alloys. The rear n/side tends to rub a tad. Im thinking of changing to a brand new set of alloys, non bmw or motorsport or anything like that with 205/40/17 (use to have them on my vr6). What id like to know will i have to have my speedometer re calibrated to take the differnce in, i would want to go through a speed cam and set it of when for example im doing under 30 and the thing goes off, will i be a mile or 3 off if i change tyre size? -
BMW 330d Estate for £12,800 20 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I have a BMW 330d estate, leased from Lex. Its due to go back in Sept 2004, but they're happy for me to buy it now (and I can opt out of my company car scheme). It a Sep 2000 model on an X. Its done 77,000 miles, has a slight gearbox whine (which has been there for 20,000 miles and isn't getting much worse). -
BMW V MB v Rover 10 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I'm looking for a saloon only with a bit of presence. So far I've looked at... Mercedes C200 (98 V) BMW 523 (99 W) Rover 75 Club 2.5 (00 X) I've got about £10,000 with maybe a couple of grand more if needs must. Ideally it should not be more than 4 years old and 60,000 miles. I know these cars aren't cheap to run but something of this ilk wouldn't be too bad on the pocket. -
BMW 530D 18 Oct 2002 (Forum)
It has been in on several occasions, had the injectors replaced once, and reset a couple of times, the turbo replaced - these make a short term improvement but the situation tends to revert - BMW dealer say that they can\'t find anything wrong when they test it, and like all intermittent things, tends to behave when it goes in !! Overall it is not as smooth and quiet as I would expect and the power seems patchy. -

BMW Boxer 23 Jul 2002 (Forum)
I realise that most of your posts are about 4 wheelers but hope for some good feedback about a 1988 BMW 80RT I am thinking of buying. This is a horizontally opposed twin cylinder motor bike and is 14 years old with 57k on the clock but hasn't been ridden for about two years however it looks very tidy, neither the front caliper or rear drum have seized and the clutch appears to be OK and the engine turns when rocked in gear. -

Citroen C4 Picasso - Reliability 4 Jul 2023 (Forum)
Hi how reliable is this car? 2017 model. I currently have a BMW 1 series diesel its cheap to run and had no issues with it. However, I need a 3 isofix rear or a 3 adult seat car. Would a Citroen be reliable enough or is there a better make such as Seat, Audi or BmW that has either 3 isofix or 3 full adult seat rear seats -
