Nissan Cube (2002 - 2008) - or Cubic, views and suggested alternatives 21 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Doing a search this afternoon, I find that this vehicle is only available secondhand - which is fine but they all seem terrifically expensive - £6000 - £7000 for anything up to 50,000 km. As far as I can gather this is because they are imported used from Japan. Has anyone any experience of owning one of these or any advice that you may offer? What alternatives are there in the UK - stylish design with enough space for two adults, three children plus space for additional passengers as required? -
Mitsubishi FTO...Wow! 21 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Has anyone had any experience of these models? I understand that they were never sold in the UK by Mitsubishi and all the models here are imports of secondhand models. Anything that I should be aware of, I must say I am mightlily impressed, he couldn't get the keys off me! Alan -
Driving long distances 20 Jun 2007 (Forum)
As we have just bought a flat there, we are likely to be making the journey more often, so I'm wondering whether, by reducing the onset of tiredness and subsequent loss of concentration (important on the german autobahns), we could do the trip in a day (albeit a long day - we can arrive when we like when we've got our own pad). I'm not interested in discussions about whether we are taking the quickest route, just curious to tap into other peoples experiences of long-distance driving. -
How cheap does a Lacetti have to be? 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
They will not consider any of the following:- i. buying a nearly-new car from a car supermarket or even a main dealer; ii. buying a new import (fair enough - they're not cheap enough for me either); iii. buying from a dealer outside the local area; iv. selling the car privately so they can haggle just on the price of the new one. So if they get within £2k of the cost to change of a private sale and then buying from a broker (which should be about £6,500 for a new Focus 1.6 LX) they'll be doing well. -
Lucky Caracas 25 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The other thing I can't help wondering is how even so powerful an entity as London can just casually get round the controls on oil imports. But what do I know? Had I the slightest interest in the well-being of Caracas residents I would urge them to repudiate this deal immediately. The last thing they want is fools building rubbish all over the road to hamper traffic flow and jimmying the traffic lights. -
97 P11 Primera cowl cover 26 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I also managed to break one pin (damn!), the one on the driver side, upper coner near the edge of the cover. I'm not sure how important this pin is as it is close to the edge where the cover is held by the windshiled side weatherstrip anyway. I presume these should be available from the dealers ? Or are any motor factors good for automotive plastic fastener assortments ? -
156GTA/Mits VR4 18 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Price to buy is a question I don't really know the answer to yet, but I'd be surprised if I'm willing to spend more than £10k, and probably less than that. Price to run on the other hand isn't quite as important, I'm not made of money but I'm currently driving a group 19 car which does an average of 25mpg, and I can accept that. -
Avoiding Pothole damage 7 Apr 2006 (Forum)
If you do get a flat, drive slowly to the closest safe area out of the way of traffic. While this may further damage the tire, it is not as important as your safety. -
Ka Questions 25 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I can't find a way to leave it unlocked and it doesn't seem to unlock with the central locking. Not exactly important, just a bit odd. Is the steering wheel really not adjustable? The bonnet release is where I'd expect the catch for this to be. Is it likely to have power steering? Strange question I know, but I can't really tell. -
Which SUV to replace diesel estate? 26 Aug 2005 (Forum)
The boot is cavernous and the 4wd is a bonus for the odd occassion when I can get close to the action (skiing etc). Fuel economy isn't that important, but it manages mid 30s on the combined figures. For £20,000 I can get a brand new one with all the toys, some £13,000 less than the Volvo or the VW. Are there any other cars I should be considering before I sign on the line? -
Your opinions please? 15 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Took my new motor back to the dealers the other day because when tuned in to an AM Radio Station I get lound interference which normally obscures the broadcast and in sometimes is actually very loud, when I go under power lines. Now whilst I accept this is hardly earthshattering in its importance I have been listening to the same Radio Stations and driving on the same roads for about ten years now in three or four different cars and I certainly dont remember experiencing this in them. In fact it takes me back to when i was a kid in one of my Dad's many Rover 2200s, since I recall interferance going under power lines. -
Filth! 31 Dec 2004 (Forum)
However it seems that there has been a rapid decline in the cleanliness and readability of roadsigns. I don't just mean the ones telling you which town or village you've entered, but important ones like on major junctions, no entry, speed limits, double bends, cameras etc. There are some that have been so obscured by filth they might as well not be there. Or the rural ones left to be overgrown by trees so they are either hidden, or barely readable under the film of green gum. -
Hj Media Appearances 1 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Collective misery for thousands to gather evidence for a careless driving offence that will almost certainly be dropped seems pointless. So yeah. Investigation of fatals is important, but the world is for the living. I agree with the guy on the other thread: If I'm killed by a dangerous driver and half a million people have to be hassled to catch him I'd rather he go un-punished. -
What Pickup? 13 Jul 2004 (Forum)
The nature of the business means that traditional issues such as towing capacity and load handling are less important than road refinement and handling. We will be keeping it a long time so longevity and low maintenance costs are key. I am interested in the Navara and there appear a lot of keen deals at the moment - although I heard that they were not all to UK specification? -
Sports Car - Which One? 27 May 2004 (Forum)
I would prefer a convertible, I like big engines and English cars if possible. Four seats are not necessary but looks are very important - nothing too square and 80s! I have considered TVRs (Chimaera/Griffith) but am seriously worried about reliability - opinions? Lotus Elise = great but not quite hairy chested enough! My budget is around 10,000 pounds. -
Road safety advert inaccuracies 23 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Whilst generally i think the vast majority of road safety ad's are brilliantly done and hard hitting (especially the seatbelt ones btw), there is one concerning the importance of sticking to the 30 limit that has a glaring error in it. "If the car had been travelling at 30mph, it would have stopped...here." Just before the car ploughs into a small child. HOWEVER All through the length of the ad, the car has its brakes locked! -
Coping strategies 4 Sep 2003 (Forum)
And why is it when you've left plenty of time to complete a journey you never get held up but when you're in a rush every possible obstruction seems to be deployed against you? Could it be that it's how you view things that's important? 8 ball -
New Motor Tradered Info, please 30 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I have a guy that will service the vehicles, I can do the HPI checking and I was considering providing an RAC inspection on the cars I sell. (For buyer piece of mind) It is really important to me that I do this right as hopefully I can turn this into my full time job. I would like to hear from anyone that is already doing this, as there is probably a load more questions I should be asking! -
Seatbelts remain top safety enhancement 5 Apr 2003 (Forum)
In the near future, vehicles are likely to become even safer, with the emergence of “smart” airbag systems, which can control airbag deployments in concert with an occupant’s seat-belt status, seating position, and size and weight. Of all the safety technologies, seat belts remain the most important in saving lives, according to industry experts. Officials at the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say that an additional 9,000 road deaths could be averted annually if everyone riding in vehicles buckled-up. -
Estate car recommendations? 3 Mar 2003 (Forum)
It needs to be very, very cheap (£300-£400 max!), be reliable and have plenty of load space. Image isn't important, and neither is fuel economy, since i won't be doing that much mileage - having said that, i'd prefer a deisel, but know nothing about buying a cheap deisel, so would be wary. My first thoughts have been an old Volvo estate (740, 940, 960, they all look the same to me?)
