I did have a Getz for three years in the noughties, the long warranty and the masses of equipment for the money swayed me, and this was generally trouble free until the warranty ended and the ECU failed. However, the I 20 carries on the good work of the Getz with the same warranty and masses of kit for reasonable money, but one I had as a courtesy car this summer and it seemed far more modern and better made than the Getz, in fact nearly on par with a Volkswagen. -

I have been trying all day to re-set the ecu of the error code and going on runs to see if it finally fixes it's self but no joy, Any help at all please, or a secluded spot and a box of matches. -

Otherwise gear changes are smooth and at "sensible" speeds. I've tried excercising the 3 multi-way connectors to the ECU with no success. Help! Thanks, Roland. -
Nissan Micra K11 2001 - Off the road 4 months still not running 17 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hello My wifes car has been off the road and I'm getting a bit desparate HELP In October it just stopped going up a hill and was recovered home Where my usual Honda trained mobile mechanic established ignition spark ok fuel to injectors ok but fuel did not seem to be getting past the injectors. Atfer more checking the ECU was sent to EUC testing who after 14 working days reported no fault and sent it back. I went to a new garage just started in a barn, close by, and the two young owners said they had both come from the local main Nissan agent. -
Ford Focus 2 1.6 Petrol - Fault Code P0304 29 Aug 2012 (Forum)
The main Ford main dealer hooked it up to their test equipment today, and diagnosed fault P04304 - misfire on cylinder 4. They replaced one plug lead and all 4 plugs, and reset the ECU. Needless to say, tonight the car was little better. It was hesitant at all speeds, and the management light flashed at over 50mph. It wasn't quite as bad as before, but clearly not right. It will be going back tomorrow, but does anyone know what they are likely to do next. -
Damage caused when parking sensors were fitted 23 Jul 2012 (Forum)
When the fitter installed the wiring he has dislodged the pipes that prevent water leaking into the boot. As such, water has slowly been leaking in and corroding the ECU component in the boot. I'm absolutely livid as it's going to cost me over £800 to get fixed. Does anyone know where I might stand legally with regards to getting some sort of compensation from the company that fitted the sensors? -
Mazda Tribute - Alarm reset 10 Apr 2012 (Forum)
On enquiring at my "local" dealer who is 30 odd miles away what this cost would be I was advised that it would be a minimum of £78 + VAT and the service person advised me that she doubted if that would be all it would cost and would more than likely be the ECU that would be found to be at fault which I find hard to believe as the vehicle has only covered 30,000 odd miles and everything else is working perfectly. Does anyone know how to reprogramme these alarms or do I HAVE to pay out what I feel ,and would be, to my pocket a considerable sum of money? -

hi hope someone can help. i have had my vectra 1.8 2001 model for about a year and had no problems untill now. i used the car around 3 weeks ago and it just cut out at traffic lights it would not start for 10 mins with the light with spanner flashing then it would start and run for 2 mins then run on 3 cylinders then cut out again, it did this 3 times then run fine for a couple of weeks then did the same again, very random, i have replaced the ecu and the coil pack. i have gone out today to use the car and it wont start at all and the light with spanner and the light with the engine on it are flashing rapidly. could it be the airflow sensor? -
Volvo V70 01 Plate T5 2.3L - Throttle position sensor limp mode 10 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I was not far from my son's house so called in and we investigaged using a MacTools code reader. "Throttle Position Sensor Switch A" then a crash code for the ECU to force the car inro limp mode. We reset this and the car was fine. I drove back home but 2 miles later the error re-appeared. I popped into my local Bosch independant but the guy in know as not there. -

I have had conflicting advise from various garages, I'm prepared to buy a recon turbo with actuator but I'm not sure if the problem could be further down the line and be whatever controls the power to the actuator or the ECU. Any advise please? -
chrysler voyager 2.5 td - no turbo boost after 2000 revs 8 Mar 2011 (Forum)
My husband has done numerous tests and concluded it is not the turbo itself - all parts are free and move as should! We are now stumped - diagnostics show no fault codes, we are getting to the point is it the ecu? if any one can advise on anything else it may be, we would be greatful!! It is back up for sale with faults listed but we would really love to get the problem sorted and keep the car! -

Removed the +flying lead from the battery and earthed flying leads to chassis to remove any static or logic stuck in the ECU 5. Tried locking the doors and unlocking them. 6. Left the battery removed overnight. 7. Checked immobiliser fuse and it is intact All of these did not work , run out of ideas, Should I track down the ignition immobiliser and see if it is defective. -
Toyota Celica (2000 - 2007) - 00 1.8 Window Wiper / Washers problem 4 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Front window wipers switch on for no reason whatsoever even when they are on intermittent, they go to normal sweep, also my windscreen washers are not working front and rear, checked fuses, all seems in order, thought it may be the wiper stalk so managed to take it apart, all contacts seemed ok, cleaned it up and away I went, scooshers still didnt work then 5 mins into journey wipers switched on.... aaaahhhhh Purchased a used wiper stalk on ebay cos a new one from the dealer is a small fortune, same happened again, now unless I am extremely unlucky and have 2 faulty stalks I am thinking its the pump (cant find one on ebay and not buying from dealer)...but why is it shorting the wiper..... or is it the ecu? has anyone had this problem or can anyone help, thanks -

hi not sure if anybody can shed any light as my local garage dont have a clue! my focus started playing up about 4 months ago so i took it to my local garage to get the ecu read. the fault stored said the waste gate solenoid was at fault and so changed but this did not solve the problem. 4 months on and they still dont know what is wrong. it starts and runs fine for about 2 mins but then runs lumpy and rough and will not rev past 2000rpm and kicks out a hell of alot of smoke as a result. if it is switched off and restarted straight away it will run fine again for a few mins and then starts running rough again. i suspect injectors but it is an expensive trial and error, and have lost faith in my local garage. -

BMW E34 cold start problem 12 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Help please 1990 520i with 88000 mls and full BM service history,for the last 3 months is very difficult to start first thing in the morning. 3 visits to BMW and 3 further visits to BMW specialist has failed to resolve the problem,in fact it is getting worse. At first they said it needed a full service - no improvement,then it was a faulty ECU unit,had this replaced - it did not resolve anything,then they replaced the thermotime switch which apparently controls the cold start injector - no difference at all,and finally the filter on the fuel line (it must be partially blocked)the car has still got the original problem.They now admit that they do not know what the problem is. -

I did a reading and it gave me the following codes: P0191 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance p0238 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit High p0263 Cylinder 1 Contribution/Balance Fault p0266 Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance Fault p0269 Cylinder 3 Contribution/Balance Fault and p0504 or p504 something about the brake switch I was advised to upgrade the pcm (ecu). Any Ideas ? Any help would be greatly appreciated -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 03 1.8 Unstable Idle when slowing 17 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The problem has gotten worse over time and now the car is nearly stalling with the battery light coming on. I have scanned the ECU for but there are none registered. The car is also often a pain to start normally when been standing overnight the car will start then the rev's just drop off to 0 causing a stall. I was wondering if anyone on here has had this problem before I start spending £££'s on parts that do not need changing. -
Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 02 2.0 diesel. HDi Limpmode 21 Jan 2010 (Forum)
This 307 was code read at main Peugeot Dealers, A few faults were found exhaust pressure sensor down stream gas tempature sensor these were fitted at the time, most recently started going into limp mode again exchangeed (MAF) sensor with a know'n good one but to no avail on doing some checking using pin data did find at (MAP) sensor plug 3 pin, "Voltage at all 3 pins" PIN 1- 4.96 PIN 2- 4.91 PIN 3- 5.90 Removed both multi plugs (ECU) and (MAP) plug, Done some checking from plug to plug also voltage and resistance and all checked out at this point any feedback to this would be greatly accepted Best Regards Mickeybo {There is no need to repeat the year, engine size, and make / model in the subject header as the compulsory boxes you fill in automatically adds those details for you} -

The only thing I did notice when I first checked it was the water level in the header tank was fairly low, there is no water in the oil or cylinders and the engine temperature was indicating normal with no change in performance(is there a engine cut off if the water level gets to low) any thing else I can check before I have to get the ecu read thanks
