• Audi S8 - Dunlop Sport 3000 tyres 30 Oct 2011 (Forum)
   They have stopped making them and due to poor tracking which I had failed to notice the fronts are stuffed.  The Audi book says that I need to have all four tyres the same make and tread, so I just need something to match the 2 rears, so part worn will do.  I will then change all 5 at the next full tyre change which should be in 15-20K miles, having just got a new job after the thick end of 2 years doing short time contracts I cannot afford the thick of a grand to change all 4 yet.

  Please please please help, I am the owner of an A6 that has had the usual oil pump failure problem, but this has gone onto further issues, after not going through Audi (they wanted £7500) to get the engine re-built i took it to an independant engine re-contioner, they charged me less but now i can see why, I am left with a re-build engine minus 4 injectors which they cannot source.

  Hi, I have a 2005 Audi A4 2.0 TDI and the temperature gauge barely moves above 50 degrees if at all. Somethings rises the width of the needle above the 50 degree mark. The car blows (luke-warm) hot air still. I think the termostat may be faulty (or perhaps has been taken out, I just bought the car and having lots of trouble so far).

  Asking on behalf of a friend, she has an Audi A3, '54 reg. 2.0 TDi, 80k miles. We believe the head gasket has gone, amongst other things! She has taken it to my very reliable mechanic, who has said it's beyond him and will cost thousands to put right!

  I need something bigger with the new car as we now have a large dog, plus I need something which can take the knocks on the unmetalled roads around where we live (the Jag's 18" wheels and LP tyres have been knocked into pieces). My company has deals with Ford (inc. Jag, Volvo and LR) and VW/Audi. I had an A4 Avant before the Jag and was very pleased with it, so I'm favouring either an Allroad or the new Q5, both 3.0 TDI. Any views on either of these two, or suggestions of viable alternatives from the Ford or VW stables?

  I have a 2003 TDi A4 Avant. I have had it from new and it has not done 50k miles yet. I got a letter from my local Audi dealer a few days ago advising that I should have my main cam belt replaced as it could result in a costly bill if it broke and damaged the engine. When I asked them how much this would cost they quoted a few pounds shy of £650!

  The oil cooler has been checked and is fine. The water pump is yet to be checked but will be replaced as a new one is only £25 for a genuine Audi pump. Does anyone know anything about what is known to cause the gasket to fail on these engines? Also what products are there on the market that will get rid of the huge amount of oil in the cooling system.

  My 6 months old Audi A3 1.6 special edition automatic has what I can only describe as a restless ride, which is very tiring. To date the car has covered less than 2k miles because it is uncomfortable to use. The car I test drove at a local dealer had a firm but steady ride and, I have owned 3 VW's before this so I am used to a firmer ride quality.

  Some nice person has at some time in the cars life removed the CD auto changer from the boot! What I'd like to do is get myself a compatible single disc genuine Audi head unit which will fit in the dash and also plug in and play without having to faff about with wiring harnesses etc! Been down that road and its no easy!!!! Anyone got any ideas where to pick one up at a reasonable price (other than eBay - had bad experience so now staying away!!!)?

  Message re posted from earlier (with appropriate detail added to the subject line) - apologies ! Dear All Anyone had an Audi that would not start when the engine is mildly warm ? My A8 always starts from cold and from hot, but sometimes will not re start if it's only been running for a few miles and it's really trying my patience.

  Feels like engine has died, but still running and power soon comes back. Car goes wonderfully otherwise. It's still under Audi warranty, but before I take the official route, any BR thoughts, pse? many thanks EH PS not sure if this should be under Tech Matters or here {Kicked across - DD}

  I've got an Audi a4 1.8 when I got the car the heaters did not blow hot air they only blow cold but last week i was out and they started to blow warm could any one tell me what's wrong the car as got climate control the engine temp runs at about 60C, the radiator is only just getting warm but the rest of the pipes around my engine bay are hot,what is my problem,(down the right side of my engine near the front there's 2 pipes that go in to something 1 is hot the other is cold)can anyone tell me what's wrong as I'm not really clued up on mechanics.

  I bought my wife an Audi A4 1.8 saloon 1995 (non turbo) earlier this year. It is a very nice car but has one annoying fault that is getting worse and I cannot understand it. It starts well from cold but when warm may start and run for a few seconds and then cut out.

  Audi A4 avant tdi 130 2002 (51 plate) Total novice I'm afraid, but wanting to have a go, or hoping for some reasurance. I have noticed an oily mist appearing on underside of fancy engine cover trim. Taken cover off and it appears to come from the fuel intake manifold (high level), what I assume is the automatic choke.

  OH! MY! WORD! Audi (bless them) invited me to a test drive day, to try three cars at a local health spa. And they had the new Gallardo-engined S6 to play with! (414 bhp in a five-seater saloon.) I cannot describe to you how good this engine is ?

  Points to note, - the overrevving does not occur when the engine is cold - the overrevving happens say 2 in every 3 warm starts - my Audi dealer has had the car in for service but found no fault - I start the car as I always have - no accelerator Not a serious problem I admit, more annoying, but the overrevving must be doing a small amount of harm.

  Reading the fault codes from the immobiliser ECU flagged a "Transponder low output" fault code, kind of confirming the fault. Replaced the ignition barrel, cut to the car using the VIN so no coding etc was required by Audi (I refuse to pay £84+VAT/hr labour rates...) Now I know how to replace the barrel, it's easy, but it was a bit of a fiddle at the time!   I have ordered one of the new Audi A6 Avant and been told that the dealer couldn't confirm a delivery timescale before ordering. Instead they would be advised of a "build week" once the car went on their system. Well that was four weeks ago and the build week is still not visible to the dealer.

  Hi all, I am new to this so here goes: I have recently bought an Audi 80 TDi 1994 M reg. When driving the car, espcecially when going round sharp bends or when im turning the steering allot the front wheel feels as though it is slipping or spinning on its own accord. what could this be?

  I've got a 1995, M reg Audi 80 2.0E, and over the past few months I've noticed that the headlights (dipped beam) don't seem to be very bright, in fact I find it difficult to drive on motorways and on country lane at night. Yes I have checked that both bulbs are working and the lens are clean and I know my eyesight is okay as I don't have the same problem with our other 2 year old car.
