  • Value of 'Extras' 4 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I have just seen an advert in today's DT in which I am invited to buy a SEAT Toledo with a spec including 18" alloys, Xenon lights, heated leather seats etc, for £17995. Now, this price includes a free Body Styling Kit 'worth' £2500. This is 1/7th of the total cost of the car! Can any bits of plastic and maybe flared wheel arches or whatever actually be worth £2500?
  • Ford KA - engine odd judder/ miss? 9 Jan 2006 (Forum)
It is almost as if the engine misses slightly but both the Ford dealership and a local independent can't find anything wrong. The judder does not get any better as the engine heats up. I have had the throttle assembly cleaned and a few other bits of the EMS but to no avail. The car has run like this for 10K with no noticeable problems however it does seem prone to develop very noisy tappets.
  • Focus running temperature 13 Dec 2005 (Forum)
My Wife inherited a "W" reg 2.0lt Focus Ghia two months or so and it came with fsh (not all Ford) and 48k miles. We are very pleased with the car but even after a short run it "Smells" hot. Lift the bonnet and the heat hits you and when you switch off the engine, it creaks with the sound of metal contracting. It does not use any water or oil and the temperature gauge remains steady, just under the half way point.
  • Mondeo 2004MY - Electical Gremlins? 27 May 2005 (Forum)
Boot lock - sometimes pops open when stopped a traffic lights etc. Very annoying. The car will be going in for its 37500 service shortly, but as the problems are intermittent, I have a feeling they won't find anything wrong. Has anyone experienced similar? Chris
  • Corolla 2001 Oil Change Procedure 18 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I have spent some time looking around for relevant info (No Haynes manual however) but still have some queries: 1) I read this statment from somewhere - 'It has the cam belt to the left , alternator underneath and the heat shield to the right, there is no room at all to get the oil filter off.' Is that true? I have never seen what's underneath the car. 2) Hints or things to watch out? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks, Dumb
  • Peugeot 405TD 1995 overheating 11 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I have had overheating problems including loss of coolant with my peugeot. The car ran for 4 hours (stationary) on Friday in the heat and as the temperature got close to 90 the fan cut in and brought it down.......everything fine and no overheating. I then took it for a run on Saturday and at speeds up to 60 mph everything was fine temp between 70 and 90 but then over this speed the temperature began to climb up to 105.
  • Battery Low? 10 Dec 2003 (Forum)
My questions are: Is this normal, or is it a sign that the battery is struggling to produce enough juice (I'm assuming its when the glow plugs switch off)? How long should a battery be relied on for? The car always splutters for a few seconds, despite catching immediately when cold starting. Could this be that the battery is low and not giving the glow plugs enough juice to heat up to optimum temperature?
  • Leganza (98)2.0 cdx 19 Nov 2002 (Forum)
the car has been looked at by a daewoo garage.the air con unit has 'lost its earth'? it can be temporarily re-earthed but this may not last very long.upon the garage trying to re-earth the unit it over-heated and this is a potential fire hazard and it was returned to its former broken state.we are awaiting the said daewoo garage on getting back to us after they have spoken to their technical and parts dept at their haed office re whether this has been heard of before etc.the unit cannot be permanently re-earthed and a new unit may have to be bought at the cost of £800.is this the case?
  • Honda Accord UK (2008 - ) - 09 2.2 Climate control on Diesel - woefull output 3 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi, we bought a 2.2 CDTi a few months ago, apparently it was the Sales managers company car , and had low mileage. We have two issues with the Climate Control. Firstly it takes 30mins minimum of driving before the car starts to heat up. Secondly even with the Climate control at MAX (28degrees) running for 40mins the car gets warm, but no more.
  • Honda Jazz Hybrid - Multiple Honda 2020 model Brake Servo failures 20 Sep 2024 (Forum)
I called into Honda agent to query delay in getting my CR-V Hybrid back on the road (see other thread) and on looking around the parking lot saw two other vehicles (both Honda 2020 Jazz) parked alongside my car with windscreen sticker “Do not drive – Brake Servo Module failed”  Queried this with service manager, “Yes, we’ve got three more in our other branch, all with failed Brake Servos and Honda UK are denying liability” This seems to be much more widespread than my own experience - and a very serious safety issue with brakes failing - yet Honda UK denying liability as all these vehicles are just out of warranty.
  • Audi A6 Avant 2.7 TDI Quattro - Intermittent Electrics 29 Jun 2012 (Forum)
The condition seems to be sensitive to the instrument warning panel indicator, as I have noticed that if the windscreen top up fluid or brake pad warning signal (need replacing soon) appears, it provokes the condition above. Any ideas?
  • Oh No! Essential Journeys only time again! 20 Jan 2009 (Forum)
So at 3pm today I looked out my office in Glasgow and saw some sleet falling. By 5pm there was definitely some sitting on the cars. By time I left at 5.45 it had all stopped and the wipers removed what was on my windscreen with one wipe. And then I had to put the radio on.......... There have been snow showers in Glasgow and it is now forecast that this may turn to ice over the course of the evening so the advice is..... only make your journey if its essential.......
  • Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010) - 2003 1.1 Rain Sensor Fault 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I asked at my local dealership and they wanted to book the car in for a full electrical diagnostic test to locate the fault which I can imagine would be rather expensive so I decided to see if anyone else has experienced this problem and could help me. My kind thanks in advance for any advice or guidance.

And the tricky one: A couple of weeks ago I was hoovering my car (weather was dry, driver's door was open) and the radio turned itself on, even though I hadn't touched any of the buttons / steering column stalks etc. What makes it even stranger is that the key was in my pocket, NOT the ignition, at the time...
