  • All fuels - Car fire in Liverpool multi story car park 5 Jan 2018 (Forum)
The massive loss of 1400 vehicles in last nights fire in Liverpool reminds me of the car fire we had on our car park at work. A faulty electrical repair on a Cavalier caused the car to self ignite and being petrol it spread rapidly to the next petrol car. And so on until four cars were destroyed.

  • basic car stereo questions 9 Aug 2003 (Forum)
help please I have a four channel head unit, 4 three way speakers (one in each corner) and 2 tweeters (L and R at front). The speakers are already fitted in the car and the head unit is currently in my old car (which only had 4 speakers). How do I connect this into my new car? I have been advised to connect the two front channels to a tweeter and a 3 way unit each in parallel but I have also read that this could lead to blown final stage transistors.

  • Why don't drivers heed speed restrictions on newly-surfaced roads? 9 Jun 2010 (Ask HJ)
My vote for most disregarded road sign goes to the warning at the side of a newly surfaced road. Typically, one is “instructed” to keep below 20mph (or...
  • DVLA Clamping Damaged my motor 10 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I thought it best to make the payment and follow up with the local DVLA office afterwards. Today I got in my car to drive to work, and as soon as i set off I realised I had a problem and I stopped the car. The leaflet on my windscreen turned out to be a untaxed vehicle notice and the clamp was attached on the passenger side which I can't see from the house.

  • 3.0 D - Jaguar XF reliability 27 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Thought I'd share this tale of woe while my car sits at Guy Salmon in Bristol. Its been there since 18th June & not a word from them. First of all though a bit of history: Back in December 2015 I kept getting a warning saying "Park Brake Fault" - to cut a longish story short it seems that Jaguar positioned the brake computer below the tube from the windscreen wash fluid bottle.
  • peugeot 308 307 - Peugeot 308 - even worse than the 307? 4 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I spent this afternoon with a fleet manager who has 74x Peugeot 308 hatchbacks and estates in his fleet. They vary from 59 - 12 plates. The cars have constant problems from 'minor' items such as windscreen motors failing to more major issues such as clutch failure (often no more than 50,000 miles).   4 Simple questions, is the 308 even more unreliable than the 307?
