  • Ford Focus Zetec 5 Dr 1.6 Tdci (2011 mark3) - Control panel lights and cAN bus issues 23 Jan 2015 (Forum)
There has also been one instance of returning to the car in a car park to find all of the side windows fully open (the car has "global opening /closing"), and another occassion where the radiator cooling fan stayed on after the car was locked - cold day after a short run of 15 miles, air con switched off, and temp gauge showing normal reading - the fan when off after car restarted and switched off.
  • 3.0 D - Jaguar XF reliability 27 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Thought I'd share this tale of woe while my car sits at Guy Salmon in Bristol. Its been there since 18th June & not a word from them. First of all though a bit of history: Back in December 2015 I kept getting a warning saying "Park Brake Fault" - to cut a longish story short it seems that Jaguar positioned the brake computer below the tube from the windscreen wash fluid bottle.
  • peugeot 308 307 - Peugeot 308 - even worse than the 307? 4 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I spent this afternoon with a fleet manager who has 74x Peugeot 308 hatchbacks and estates in his fleet. They vary from 59 - 12 plates. The cars have constant problems from 'minor' items such as windscreen motors failing to more major issues such as clutch failure (often no more than 50,000 miles).   4 Simple questions, is the 308 even more unreliable than the 307?
  • SEAT Toledo Water leak 29 Oct 2006 (Forum)
My car only seems to leak in the passenger side, and I have noticed in the service history that it had a new windscreen. It's not the doors as I saw water drip down from the shelf under the glove box during the storms we had a few months ago.
  • Stone the Crows! 27 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I spent today at the Nene Valley Railway, helping lift a steam loco boiler with our 40-ton steam crane. When I arrived, another volunteer came across and warned me to cover up or remove my windscreen wipers as a crow has been taking wiper rubbers, presumably to make its nest. He said that most of the team had had their wipers damaged this way over the past few days. I went straight back to the car and wrapped some paper around the wipers to discourage the crow.
  • Think yourself lucky ! 15 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Her sister and brother in law have to live with my wife's grandmother 'cos they can't afford a room even and have a baby to support. They've worked very hard to buy a very modest car and things like the windscreen wipers and wheel trims keep getting nicked ! Nobody cares, least of all the police and this sort of thing's endemic there - anything and everything gets robbed ! Given that their earnings are a small fraction of ours, petrol's more expensive than champagne is here!
  • Imported Golf V5 6 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The savings are impressive compared to shopping around and haggling at the local VW garages. I keep cars until they fall to bits so an not worried about re-sales values etc. The small print such as 'we can only guarantee one key with the car' or 'there will only be a handbook if the vehicle arrives with one' concerns me.
  • Airbags Peugot 306 17 Feb 2002 (Forum)
1999 Peugot 306 estate belonging to our neighbour. 6 year old son was sent to collect sweets from the glovebox of the unlocked car, next thing that happens is a big bang as the Passenger side Airbag explodes. Result 2 broken bones in left wrist as he is apparently pushed upwards into windscreen. As a result of his young age, his version of events must be treated with caution, but there is no reason to believe that his version is not correct. ?
  • Hyundai Coupe Vibration 26 Aug 2004 (Forum)
This vibration seems to start at the front of the car and feels like it travels through underneath the seats towards the back of the car. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this? NIGEL
  • Citroen DS3 - Temp engine fault 29 Aug 2023 (Forum)
My 2012 Ds3 suddenly flashed up temp engine fault and the fan came on constantly while driving but coolant was fine and the engine wasn’t actually over heating. As these cars have form, the temperature sensor has been changed including the casing, the water pump is ok, the resistor on the fan has been changed and still it has the fault. The car isn’t overheating and it drives fine it’s just the fault light is still there and the fan runs constantly. anyone have any experience with this???
  • Suzuki Jimny - 2019 Jimny 17 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Even on standard road/summer tyres, the traction is phenomenal - even when you think it won’t go any further, just hold a steady 1500/2000rpm and it’ll usually find grip by braking individual wheels. Inside, it’s a big step forward from the previous car, with good connectivity, climate control, heated seats etc. The only thing I can’t comment upon is it’s on road performance, as I simply haven’t driven it far enough. After four days, my car has an average speed of 4mph!

  • Removing sun cream from paintwork. 15 Jul 2018 (Forum)
I thought I was the only one with this problem until I saw a similar question in a well-known weekly car magazine this week - with a no-answer answer, if you know what I mean. Our kids have, in passing, put sun-cream covered hands on our cars paintwork - and it is impossible to remove. It seems to 'soak in' to the paintwork and won't wash out.
  • colt/c1/argo/107 - mitsubishi colt vs toyota aygo/c1/107 11 Apr 2016 (Forum)
As above, need to buy a new smaller car and not to sure on the colt vs the argo faimly, does any one have any experiences with these? From what i can tell the argo family from the car reliablity index has electrical and cooling and heating issues, but i have also read the clutch needs a bigger one and the brake discs go more frequently, these are easy fixes for the home mechanic.

Hi all, im a fairly new driver and bought my first car which is a ford fiesta 96 encore 1.3. its in great condition for age and drives fine. The only issue i have just come up against, is recently when i start the car the blowers come on automatically event though the switch is set to 0 on the panel, the heating side is fine i.e. it warms up and cools down with the thermostat on the panel.

  • Rear Demister Kit 19 Jul 2007 (Forum)
About 25+ years ago there were cars on the road which came without a rear screen demister. I got a kit from Charlie Brown. You stick the heating element on the rear screen and wire it up. Can you still get this kit nowadays? Friend has a Nippa Peruda and is fed up cleaning the rear screen in today's wonderful summer weather :-( If the kit is unavailable what is the best solution for reducing condensation of the rear screen?
  • Extracting pure water from coolant syste 5 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Today my car over heated - unfortunately it was bone dry. I know, it was all my own fault, nothing wrong with the car at all. I've learnt my lesson. So, a very helpful person came along and topped my coolant system up with water.
  • Things that still happen 30 Jun 2003 (Forum)
A little parasitic on another thread, but what do people still find car manufacturers/sellers do which noone seems to want. My suggestions would be: (1) Nasty stickers in rear screen that can't be removed without killing the rear heated window. (2) Badges - I know its a Ford so why do I need them?
  • Audi A1 Sportback - Where to put two new tyres 3 Feb 2025 (Forum)
