  • Tyre Pressures 1 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Can anyone enlighten me to the reason why most cars tyre pressures are more in the rear tyres than the front? I would have thought it would have been the other way around as the engine is, in most cars anyway, at the front and therefore more weight needs to be kept up.
  • Any - Analysis of Rechargeable Battery - Electric Cars 16 Jul 2014 (Forum)
If the petrol/diesel burning ICE had been 'invented' before the electric car and the steam engined car were introduced in Europe, towards the end of the 19th Century, then the electric car would probably never have been seriously considered for anything other than certain 'niche' applications such as milk delivery 'floats' since the 'start/stop' nature of this activity is ideally suited to rechargeable battery-electric propulsion.

  • Citroen C4 - Washing Fitted Front Seat Covers 5 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Just bought this lovely car...but it whiffs a bit of previous owners dog. I see that the front seats have removeable covers...has anyone ever done this, washed them and got them back on again ok? Failing that, any tips for getting rid of doggy smell...currently using Febreeze which seems to do the trick.
  • Skoda Yeti - Front indicator replacement, rank bad design 19 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I am staggered! Skoda want my car for a whole day to replace a single front indicator bulb. They tell me that the bumper, grille and the relevant headlight have to be removed first. It may be under warranty but this is plain madness.
  • Peugeot 205 (1983 - 1997) - 89 1.8 Front wiper failure. 27 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Hi, am just getting car back on road, have no manual with it, and have checked the fuses for front wipers, not sure what to check next. Can't think where relay is located or wiper motor housing, can anyone help as I didn't cover much electrical work on college course.
  • Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 99 2.0 Front suspension collapse 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
110bhp diesel: with a distinct crack, both sides of the front suspension of this car seemed to collapse, simultaneously and at low speed. The engine stalled and would not re-start. Suspension on both sides appears to be down on the stops. Suspension on one side giving up I can understand, but both sides at the same moment?
  • Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 1997 1.7d Replacing front pads. 9 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I need to replace the front pads on this car, can anyone be so kind as advise on how to dismantle the calliper to extract the two pads. Am I correct in thinking that the outer spring clip is removed and two (possibly Allen key (size?))
  • Mk4 Golf-Sidelights u/s after bulb swap. 28 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Changed the offside front headlamp unit tonight, then found both the front and rear offside side lights won't work. All the other lights, front and rear, on both sides of the car, work OK. Fuses seem OK. Anyone any ideas where to look for the fault please?

  • Front fogs problem - 1982 Granada 30 Oct 2005 (Forum)
All other lamps including the aux driving lamps work fine but I'm not too good with electrics, so any pointers would be much appreciated! The car will be going for it's mot soon, would it fail on non-working front fogs? Thanks
  • HJ letters 10th May 2013 17 Jun 2013 (Forum)
The buses there were the first ones to have video cameras on permanent recording mode pointing forwards through the windscreen, because they were plagued by drivers who would slam their brakes on deliberately, cause a crash, after which all five of the car's occupants would jump out wincing and rubbing their necks. Anyone who has spent time in the lovely hamlet of Bolton will know what I am getting at here.
  • Rolling back the MOT while preserving safety 12 May 2013 (Forum)
I've got a few older cars that I want to keep on the road but the MOT is a pain in the a***. It seems to me like it's become a license for the manufacturers, the whole of the motor industry, to swindle the poor consumer.
  • Speed Bump Causes Crash !! 24 Sep 2012 (Forum)
It is thought the cyclist attempted to go over a deteriorating speed bump and lost his balance and collided with the windscreen of the oncoming car. The cyclist, a man in his 30s from south London, was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London with serious head injuries. The driver of the Volvo, a local man in his 40s, was uninjured.
  • Renault Espace III - Espace heater fan (or fans?) not blowing 8 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Also, the fan might have caused the resistor pack to fail so it might be worth checking the fan and replacing if it doesn't look too good. The air con still works though only blows through when the car is moving so it is just about possible to de-mist the windscreen. I've searched for instructions on how to replace these parts but haven't found anything at all that helps me. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
  • FIAT Punto - Punto died whilst driving 28 Dec 2010 (Forum)
By the way, my wife also has a punto which is exhibiting almost demonic behaviour of the windscreen wipers. Fitted a new wiper motor etc. and the problem started from there - any advice on this would be also greatly appreciated. Happy motoring!

  • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 1997 - sunroof drain holes 21 Jan 2008 (Forum)
    I have been told that the drain holes on this car are poor anyway but didnt get much more information than that! There is some surface rust around the sunroof where the water has been sitting which will need sorting out cheers {year found via a forum search}
  • Screen Wash 13 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Clearalex now seems difficult to come by and I would like to know whether it is stil made and if so where it can be obtained. Failing this, recommendations on which product gives the best results would be appreciated. Some car magazines often make claims as to which are best best, but I wonder how much the sale of advertising space affects this.
