Still Some Auction Bargains, But Not Many Shopping Days Left 17 Dec 2003 (News)
The 99V Focus 1.8 Zetec with Climate Pack was very clean indeed for its 84k miles. I’d have said £3,500, but thought a private buyer might get run to £4,250. It didn’t happen. Someone got the car for £3,450, which is £300 less than mileage-adjusted trade book. How often do you see a Mazda Premacy at auction? -

Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 27-6-2015 27 Jun 2015 (News)
It is now almost 3 years old and I am considering future costs. Although I have only covered 23,000 miles, on a mixture of short runs and at least one 25-mile run at 60-70 mph each month, I am only rarely caught in slow traffic. My main concern is deterioration of the DPF and major expenses. If I continue to drive in this manner how much longer will the DPF last and am I doing enough to protect it? -

Probably the most iconic of all the American muscle cars, the 'Dukes of Hazzard' 1969 Dodge Charger R/T features a rare red on red colour scheme and is powered by a highly modified racing-performance 440 'Magnum'. The engine runs very well and sounds great with a full-length 3" aluminized exhaust from Summit. It will run on normal petrol but for real performance, try it with racing fuel. The car has been rebuilt from the ground up with the rust free body repainted in the original colour, a new vinyl roof fitted and the interior refurbished to the original specification. -

Future Classic Friday: Skoda Superb 12 Apr 2019 (News)
Indeed, the cab market is why you don’t see that many Superbs for sale any more. Their popularity meant that used examples were gobbled up and run into the ground, often shrugging off half-a-million miles with consummate ease. There aren’t that many cars of the 2000s that can do that. All of which proves that the Superb was a car that well and truly lived up to its name - it was very good indeed. -
Government criticised for scrapping plug-in car grant 12 Oct 2018 (News)
Not everyone has criticised the Government for changing the rules, however, with some market commenters saying that more needs to be done to reduce running costs rather than list prices. According to FTI Consulting, which provides advice to businesses and governments on clean energy, the changes could be a good thing. “It’s not necessarily wrong of the Government to reduce the subsidies. -

If your car was built 40 years ago, you don’t need to go and get a new MoT certificate when the existing one runs out. Can I still get an MoT on an exempt vehicle? Yes. But remember if it fails it will no longer be considered roadworthy until you fix it. Does it matter if it’s not roadworthy? -

Michelin campaigns for introduction of worn tyre ratings 12 May 2017 (News)
As an industry, we think 400 million tyres and 35 million tonnes of CO2 could be saved if drivers had the knowledge and confidence to run their tyres to the legal limit." EU tyre labels were introduced in 2012 to make it easier for drivers to understand performance, with each one showing how the tyre has tested for fuel economy, noise and wet weather grip. However, Roget says the labelling system needs to be expanded to allow drivers to make the most informed decisions when it comes to choosing the right tyres for their needs. -

NEC Classic Motor Show 2016: Wheeler Dealer Mike Brewer unveils his latest project 8 Nov 2016 (News)
. The car in question is a 1972 Citroen SM – a car from the height of Citroen’s most eccentric and turbulent period. Mike says, 'It’s a car that would send a lot of people running scared – they’re very complex, but I wanted to show that if you do your research you can find the right people to turn a car around,' The SM launched in 1970 and by ’72, the year Mike’s SM left the factory, Citroen was in the midst of disastrous partnership with Maserati, a marriage that Mike says brought together two of the most eccentric, and most fragile manufacturers. Despite that, the SM continued Citroen’s fine reputation of creating cars that were beautifully designed and intelligently engineered. -

A literally huge restoration project, but with a lot of work done, this 4,086cc 100HP six cylinder 1936 Humber Super Snipe represents a fantastic opportunity to complete in its two tone colour scheme or switch to camouflage sand and pretend to be a general in one of the North African campaigns.
