  • Last call for big old-shape Vauxhall Astra savings 21 Dec 2009 (News)
The last of the big savings on the Astra hatchback are being served up by Motorpoint.   The car supermarket giant is offering a wide range of 09-Reg models with low mileage for nearly 50% of the price of the new version, which went on general sale last week with prices starting from £15,520.
  • Year Old Convertibles at Peak of Used Value 31 May 2007 (News)
“It is also clear that coupe-convertible cars with a folding metal roof are affected less by these seasonal patterns than fabric-roof models,” adds Jeff Paterson, Senior Car Editor at EurotaxGlass’s Richard Crosthwaite, Prestige Car Editor at EurotaxGlass’s, adds, “This is a fashion-led market, where the values of prestige-brand models in particular are influenced by changing tastes and the arrival of new models.
  • 19 ‘new’ clubs set for NEC classic motor show 9 Jul 2015 (News)
Founded in 1991 as a non-profit organisation to promote the use and conservation of older Toyotas and Lexuses, the club welcomes owners of cars of any age. MGs on Track will be displaying for the first time as a separate entity to the MG Car Club, which it is part or. Intended for those looking to have fun with road cars rather than stripped out racers, the group is voluntarily run to offer fun track days with fellow MG enthusiasts.

  • Neo-classics - the next generation on show in Stuttgart 15 Mar 2014 (News)
We like the German classic car scene. It has categories for all types of historic cars, rather than just the all-encompassing catch all term 'classics' that we use here in the UK. Anything older than 30 years old is an Oldtimer, anything between 10 and 30 years old is a Youngtimer - it's simple, logical and works.
  • Nissan deal 'better than official scrappage scheme offers' 2 Jul 2009 (News)
Motorists thinking about buying a car may want to take advantage of an offer from Nissan. The manufacturer has promised it will knock a minimum of £2,000 off the price of any of its British-built vehicles to those trading in an auto aged between eight and ten years old.
  • Scrap Cars Raise £500,000 For Charity 30 Nov 2011 (News)
It allowed me to give a great donation to a local hospice that is doing wonderful work for children with life-threatening illnesses.” Giveacar raises money for charity by scrapping old cars, recycling the parts and passing the proceeds to the charity of the owner’s choice. Anyone who has an old car they no longer need can use the scheme. Cars can be picked up from anywhere in Britain - all it takes is a phone call.
  • A Grand Monday: Ford Sierra 2.3 Ghia 1 Apr 2014 (News)
The comment about it being hard to believe that the car is 30 years old is true enough. I remember when the Sierra hit 25, I drove Ford Heritage's example for a magazine feature. My main memory is that no one looked twice at it - something you would simply not expect with a 25 year old Ford.
  • The future classic cars killed by the scrappage scheme 30 Sep 2014 (News)
Take off the actual values of some of those classics being traded in and it’s almost certain that many owners would have been financially better off selling their old cars privately and negotiating their own new-car discounts. Five years on from its introduction, the scrappage scheme finds itself making headlines once again – with newly released facts and figures to add to its controversy.
  • MoT Files: Top 10 cars for passing the first MoT test 18 Feb 2019 (News)
The MoT Files has uncovered some startling trends when it comes to pass and fail rates, with more than a few surprises. Here we’ve uncovered the 2014-model cars that are most likely to pass their first MoT test at three years old. We’ve only included models with at least 3000 tests on record, and each entry includes a link to that car’s full MoT results breakdown.
  • Grand Monday: Peugeot 405 19 Sep 2016 (News)
Even the vendor admits the 405 GLD won’t get you anywhere in a hurry – but that’s not really the point of this car. This is a genuine ‘everyday’ classic. A retro car that is old enough and rare enough to get a bit of attention, yet at the same time modern and practical enough to not offer too much of a compromise on the daily commute.
  • Gallery: St James Concours, London, 5-7 September 25 Sep 2013 (News)
The concours circuit is a busy one - but it looks like Pebble Beach, Amelia Island and Villa d'Este have been joined by London. For the second Concours of Elegance, 61 of the world’s rarest motor cars – many of them never seen before in this country – graced the gardens of 300-year old Royal palace Marlborough House, and drove through London. Lead by Royal patron HRH Prince Michael of Kent driving the 1933 Napier-Railton 24 litre Special, and with the oldest dating from 1907, nearly all of the cars in the Concours were driven - in a spectacular convoy from Buckingham Palace down The Mall - by their owners into the gardens on the opening morning.
  • A three-year-old Hyundai i20 'will be worth more than its rivals' 30 Dec 2008 (News)
People looking at buying a car that will retain more of its value than its rivals are being urged to consider the new Hyundai i20.The...
  • Interesting Entries For Monday’s Classic Auction 20 Feb 2005 (News)
BCA’s Classic Sale on Monday doesn’t have a lot of really old cars. But it’s an excellent event to buy a late ‘nostalgia’ classic. The star of the show is this 1973 MGB GT ‘Sebring’, a recreation of a development car for the good looking MGB GTS that finished 10th in the 1968 Sebring race driven by Paddy Hopkirk and Andrew Hedges.
  • Sir Ray Tindle to notch up 50 London to Brighton runs 28 Aug 2013 (News)
Sir Ray said: 'I can recall the exact spot on Streatham Common where my parents took me to watch these wonderful old machines pass. Of course, then the oldest car taking part was probably only about 30 years old but still totally different from their modern counterparts. I remember thinking how wonderful it would be to ride on one of those cars.'
  • Scrappage Scheme Sells 35,000 New Cars 29 May 2009 (News)
Carmakers had lobbied ministers to put in twice that amount, as happened with a similar scheme in Germany, where the government stumped up 2,500 if a car more than ten years old was scrapped and a car less than one year old was purchased.
  • More Power For Passat 10 May 2002 (News)
The price for the S spec with standard air-conditioning goes up by £155 to a still very reasonable £14,850, but because CO2 emissions are down company car drivers will actually pay less BIK tax than for the old car. The Passat S Estate with the 2.0 130bhp engine is priced at £15,800. Cynics will see this as a move to differentiate the Passat from the longer, cheaper Passat Plus based Skoda Superb which has to struggle along with the old 2.0 litre 115bhp 8 valver unless buyers pay extra for the 150bhp 1.8T.

There's a vast array of classics on display at the NEC. Check out a few of our favourites here.
  • Top 10: Classic superminis 18 Jul 2014 (News)
The creation of the supermini was perhaps inevitable. By the start of the 1970s, British Leyland’s evergreen Mini was already more than a decade old, and the gap between it and the family cars of the time was growing ever larger. Car manufacturers began to realise there was room in the market for machines that were bigger and more refined than the Mini but smaller than a typical family saloon.
