  With 77,000 miles on the clock, it’s been treated to a recent service. That work included new belts, thermostat, water pump, alternator and battery. It comes with an MoT until June 2016. But while its body looks fairly rot-free, it does have a few age-related marks. There’s a ding on the lower part of offside rear door. And there are a few small scratches here and there.

  Despite that it returns 117.6mpg on average, says Volkswagen, and it can drive around 30 miles on battery power alone.   BMW recalls 5 Series and 6 Series models 27 Mar 2012 (News)
  All type of 5 Series and 6 Series are affected, including saloon, touring, coupe and M models. Build dates are March 2003 to July 2010.  According to BMW the battery cable in the boot could be mounted incorrectly, resulting in malfunctions, problems with starting the car, or in extreme cases some scorching or, possibly, a fire. There’s no reason to panic, though, because BMW says that only 1% of cars checked so far have shown the fault.

  Electric autonomous vehicle revealed: could replace petrol and diesel cars within five years 11 Feb 2020 (News)
  With its compact footprint, its designers say the 2.5m-long pod has the potential to reduce congestion in city centres while its electric powertrain will reduce emissions. The Motiv uses a 17.3kWh battery pack to power a 20kW electric motor. Officially, it can provide a five-hour continuous run time and a range of 62 miles. Charging takes 40 minutes (from 20 to 80 per cent), while the electric pod tops out at 40mph.

The RS500 Registrar, Paul Linfoot, describes the car as one of the ‘most original and best available RS500s in the world today.’ Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said, ‘Very few of us have ever come across one of these in such a well-preserved state with such low mileage.

  Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: SsangYong XAV makes European debut 16 Sep 2015 (News)
  It's powered by either a 1.6-litre diesel or 1.6-litre petrol engine plus there's a hybrid electric E-4WD system. This uses a lithium ion battery and two electric motors mounted at the back, giving two modes - hybrid fuel economy mode and hybrid performance mode. The XAV-Adventure has something called the 3S-CUBE system. This includes a special sensing device, which together with a smart motion control system, electric air suspension and ‘stereo vision’, monitors the road conditions and adjusts the suspension for optimised ride comfort.

  The requirements mean vehicles can also be plug-in hybrids or range-extended EVs, capable of operating on traditional diesel or petrol when outside of the low emission areas, and running on batteries when required. The news was confirmed by Boris Johnson at an event in London at which several companies previewed their plans to produce vehicles to fit the requirements. Frazer-Nash, Nissan, Karsan, London Taxi Company and Mercedes-Benz were present.

  Step five: Turn machine internal pressure to mirror that of vehicle fuel line pressure, creating an independent fuel supply from the TerraClean machine. Step six: Connect machine to battery terminal / power supply. Step seven: Start engine. TerraClean machine will start service enabling the removal of carbon, tar and varnishes from a number of internal components including fuel injectors, injection pumps, combustion chambers, valves, manifolds and oxygen sensors.

  First Ever Skoda to Compete in London to Brighton Run 5 Nov 2010 (News)
  The rear-wheel drive Voiturette A (which is French for ‘little car’) is powered by a four-stroke, two-cylinder SV engine, which produces 7bhp and has a top speed of 25mph. There is no battery, only a low voltage magneto, and there are no spark plugs, but an originally used ‘breaker’. The Voiturette A will be on view to the public in Regent Street, London on Saturday (6 November) during the LBVCR International Concours event (11.00-15.00).
