  Disco TD5 is now on the very back burner as there is nothing wrong with the 200TDi (Oh dear lets not tempt fate, otherwise the works van will become an automatic Nissan Almera!!!!). So, the trafic as a van is fine, though looking tatty at 187K + miles and is hell on earth on the motorway. I don't need a high roof, though I may consider one if it were cheap. I would like one long enough to put 8x4 sheets in the back, which the current N reg trafic isnt though they can go in diagonally.

    The other day I very, very stupidly drove too close to the pillar at the end of the driveway (trying to avoid the bins, I should have just got out and moved them...sigh), and it left a fine scratch across the left rear passenger door about 10cms above the handle and extended very slightly over to the next panel.  Weeks ago I also turned into a side bollard trying to get out of a parking space (I know, I know, genuinely didn't see it - it was very short and I noticed the other bollard opposite had been knocked over!!

    Upshifts seem to be ok, and most of the other gears are fine, but it sounds like a common problem based on some internet searching.   When driving on very wet roads, we also get some electrical faults for the side lights when turning and something else to do with the electric power steering.

  Hi, My car was involved in an accident about 3 weeks ago. In summary, my car (Nissan 350Z 3.5l V6) was parked along a street next to a Showhome we were viewing at the time. The guy living across the street reversed and hit my driver side door. Fortunately he drop by and spoke with the sale advisor regarding the damage he caused.

  I'm very pleased :) Having done my testing, here's a few comments on the Almera: Likes: * good forward visbility, no serious blindspots * ride comfort adequate, not as good as an old French car, but felt better than a Focus * handling is fine: feels very secure and predictable, mercifully free of excitement * autobox smooth, road noise low, engine quiet in normal use (growlier when kickdown used, but it's fast enough for me that won't be needed much) * brakes powerful and progressive (no snatch) * seats and driving position comfortable, lots of adjustment (though no reach adjustment on wheel) * plenty of room in the back for two adult women with two adults in the front, boot quite generous * stereo sounds good in both front and back * leather steering wheel nice to hold, minor controls easy to use * steel wheels rather than alloys Dislikes: * poor rear visibility, redeemed a bit for parking by the bleeping sensors * speedometer in the facelifted model not as legible as in earlier Almeras (smaller, with numbers only at 20mph intervals).

  At the time/place I started the overtake there were no oncoming vehicles, no entrances,  no parked vehicles and not even any pedestrians on the other side of the road. So completely the wrong side of the road was the place to be. I did tell her this, but I didn't want to argue too much because I knew that she wouldn't do anything.

  The staff were very helpful and friendly, but the documentation took ages and then we had to walk around the block a time or two to even find the vehicle, as parking around there is impossible. We then went over the car with the finest tooth-comb I've ever met and every tiny scratch or dent was marked on the booking out sheet, No bad thing in a way, but a bit tedious.

  Hello, Drving along in nose to tail traffic earlier today in my home city with the Mrs and daughter - a car ran into the rear bumper on our newish AudiS2. The fool had parked at a rightangle to the road in front of some close gates and as we passed, it started revesing slowly, we had to stop as it was stop start traffic - the guy crashed into our car and make it wobble and loud bang - the damage appeared hefty as its our car and cost us a lot, well a lot to us any way.

Watch the width in car parks though ? modern car parks aren?t designed for cars this wide and you may end up with dented/scratched doors as other cars open their doors up on your car!!! Summary All in all this is a great car.

  Before I had the chance to even pop the bonnet and check it over the old boy had to get back to his flat and do what ever old boys do and said "it's ok you can drive the car because your insured as I am fully comp on it" I started the engine after he went in and it appeared to sound fine, a little smoke but what I expected from a diesel (so I've been told) Drive slowly home about two miles away as it didn't have much fuel and parked it up over night. The next day I done all the insurance etc but had no reason to go out anywhere so the car stayed there over night again and the next morning I had to get up and take my partner home which is a 80 mile single trip and I was looking forward to it.

  My previous Yeti ownership comprised a 2009 1.2 TSI SE, followed by a 2012 Urban TDI. I ran the TSi for 10K miles / 1 year and found it just a little bit underpowered. It was fine around town, but struggled when fully loaded with either passengers or luggage. The car actaully retained a phenomenal 90% of it's new cost when traded in at 1 year (presumably due to the waiting list at the time).

  The ride is firm but the damping feels grown up and expensive. The steering, which is needlessly heavy at parking speed and goes weirdly light in a straight line, gets better when you’re acting like a helmsmith. There’s even some sense of the grip and conditions being experienced by the front wheels.

  The car has quite a long wheelbase which combined with an ‘average at best’ steering lock and thick pillars makes car parks sometime challenging. I am more than competent at driving (ex HGV1) but it is a large car with restricted vision in smaller spaces. Drive slowly and it’s fine. The upside of this is that on the road, it is supremely relaxing and just eats up the miles.
