  I was playing around with the Volvo at the weekend, and noticed that when I switch the rear fogs on, I get a "Bulb failure Fog Light" message on the panel. Checking around the back, I found I only have one rear fog light working (offside).

  I'm not a great fan but sometimes I look when it has leather in and think it looks rather nice. Oh - it's a Volvo too and I'd be 21 at the earliest when I got it. Not the traditional young man's car (neither is a 4dr Focus for that matter). If the T5 is a completely different kettle of fish then please mention that also.

  So basically what im suggesting is that low set crash beams are pretty useless in side impacts because, and to contradict the EU the first part of a car to strike another cars side is most certainly NOT the metal pressing underneath the radiator its the "bumper iron"which is a lot higher. Only Volvo seem to have retained a much higher crash beam. I know this because whilst out in my support van last week I came across an accident where a Volvo HGV Artic had overshot a roundabout and hit the side of (ironically) a Volvo V40 estate . the cars side was flattened but the high set thick tubular door crash bars had stopped any intrusion.

  Plus points are that it is reasonably spacious and is chain cam engine. Downside is that the engine isn't very powerful. Volvo v60. Plus points are that the petrol model is impressive. Downside is that it is a belt drive,  for a big car it isn't very spacious on the inside and volvo seem to seel very few petrols meaning that there aren't many second hand on the market.

  I plan to keep on the car for as long as it can, so I´m not sure if I should look too deeply to depreciation here. I have looked at a new Focus 1.0 125 hp titanium, a new Volvo V60 T3 your momentum (I´m in Sweden), a 3 y.o. Megane III dCi and a 3 y.o. Volvo V50 D2. I drive round 20000 km per year, so I think it will be ok with either petrol or diesel.

The problem has defeated 2 main dealers, but the Volvo Owners Club (which I joined on-line) came up with a guy who sent me a whole load of info on the system.
