  • Variable Supercharger Improves Low End Torque 19 Jan 2012 (News)
    Testing work on the Rotrak variable drive supercharger is underway in Torotrak’s rolling-road test facility. The company’s engineers already have the technology running in a B-segment donor vehicle on a dynamometer and are calibrating the control strategy to prove its driveability, performance, CO2 and fuel economy benefits. “We’re among the first engineers to calibrate a variable drive supercharger,” said Rotrak Product Director Andrew de Freitas.”It’s uncharted territory and a lot of work, but the effort we invest in exploring the technology’s operating envelope is establishing new areas of engine performance for manufacturers.

    GRMN – Gazoo Racing tuned by MN – is showing a second-generation of its iQ Supercharger prototype, a model scheduled for a limited (100 units) production run later this year. The car is powered by a further development of the supercharged 1.33-litre engine previously used by GRMN in the iQ 130G MT, delivering 128bhp (95kW) and 180Nm. It also features a six-speed, close ratio transmission, uprated brakes, sports suspension and a tuned dual exhaust system.

  • Chevrolet to show two concepts at Frankfurt 16 Aug 2011 (News)
    The exterior styling is reminiscent of fighter jets, but with touches from other famous Chevrolet models including the Corvette and older American classics like the 1963 Monza SS. The signature dual-port grille is present and correct, along with LED daytime running lights.  The bodywork is made from lightweight carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) and carbon-fibre. The wheels are 20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear, with a ‘turbine’ design to evoke movement even when the car is stationary.
