  • Celica or ...? 7 Aug 2006 (Forum)
We have a 9 year old child, so some semblance of rear seats would be useful, although we do have a Yaris. Reliability is fairly important. There are Celica 190s for under £10k on Auto Trader, and it gets a very good write up on the Car-by-Car Breakdown. However, I know the engine needs revs, and other sources suggest the noise can be tiresome.
  • VW Passat (Help,Help) 22 Jun 2005 (Forum)
On contacting my VW approved dealer to see if they could better the price, he advised that there was no way that he could better the price and at that price it must be an import and that servicing the car would be more expensive and if I where to use the warranty it might take wks/months to get fixed as it may have differant gear box for example and that when I traded it in I would get less for it.
  • Cheap, reliable new diesel car 16 Mar 2005 (Forum)
It really needs to be brand new, 100bhp+ diesel engine but ideally more, have a decent sized boot, decent kit and be comfortable as it'll do at least 35k a year. Good fuel economy and reasonably priced main dealer servicing is important and it will quite likely be used to tow a ligh trailer at some stage. Tricky bit is the money, an absolute max of £15k but ideally something around £13-£14k would be easier to swallow.
  • Tipo Injector Warning Light 5 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I can detect no change in the engine running, it seems to pull perfectly normally, no hesitation or misfire, whilst the light is on. So - is it something important? (ie expensive) or just one of those Italian car electrical things. I'd be grateful to hear from anybody else who's had experience of this.
  • hyundai accident repair 28 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I can see why the car fails to get 2 star NCAP safety rating - death trap, however its a reliable death trap. Anyhow, need a bumper, grille and bonnet for a y-plate model. colour aint to important as i can get it painted. where is best to look? are they easy enough to remove? are they easy enough to install? anything to watch out for? as i said, the radiator hasnt been touched, neither has anything else. let me know, as i reckon if i can get the parts the job looks straight forward.

  • Harley Davidson Dot4 brake fluid 8 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Something tells me mech1 might have the answer, he seems to have a good grasp of the nitty-gritty. Pointers appreciated, because this is imported fluid from the USA (Pitt-Penn) and not cheap.
  • Filling with oil 6 Oct 2003 (Forum)
It is just and ordinary dipstick and pokes down into the sump in the normal way. Can anyone suggest an explanation - its important enough for them to fit a warning sticker about it? What happens if I *do* refill with the dipstick removed?
  • FAO Fitz & Bighammerman - VIRUS WARNING 26 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Apologies that this is not motoring related, but I do consider it important enough to warrant a thread all of its own. Fitz & Bighammerman, your pc's seem to be infected with the "Swen" virus. How do I know? You keep sending me emails with the virus attached!! I have tried replying to you by email, but all I get is "The user(s) account is temporarily over quota." from your service provider, NTL.
  • Focus TDdi owners ................... 11 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I'm looking to see if the 2nd one from the top of the 2nd column is fitted or not. This is actually called the engine run relay. Its important that its a TDdi/Endura engine NOT a TDci - and it MUST have a heated front screen. Thanks in anticipation. Robert

  • Honda Civic type R 30th edition 14 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Bits of an odd one this but please bear with me! Im in the market for a new Honda Civic type r. Ive decieded im going to get one through an importer and a few days ago i saw one of these 30th anniversay editions advertised for some thing like £14,800 (which in my eyes is a bargain, even if it does turn out to have a 5 months wait!). Me being me i cant remember where or who is was advertising it.
  • Dog damage - dilemma 26 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Dogs are like that, and the paintwork was not brilliant anyway B - Give him the bill for a respray, and probably end a valued friendship C - Mention it to him, emphasise that whilst for yourself it is not that important because of the general condition of the car's paintwork, he ought to be aware in case the dog does the same to a new car or one that has just been expensively restored. D - Say nothing, claim on the insurance, lose excess and NCB, and make an excuse never to go there again.
  • NEW MINI - HELP NEEDED! :-D 24 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Thing is, i dont know where to buy it from. The dealers are a no go area as they give stupid discounts so am looking for an import agency. First question is - Mini One or Cooper? think a cooper personally as insurance is only £100 more. I found the best price at www.micronetshowroom.co.uk for a mini cooper including delvery for around £10,400.
  • BMW 530D 18 Oct 2002 (Forum)
I bought one of these a year ago , 18 months old personal import. The magazines all wax lyrical about the engine and rate it one of the best. I have had recurring problems with rough tickover, lack of or inconsistent power through the range - also it is very slow on the take up if you try for a quick getaway before it goes - disconcerting if you are pulling out at a junction or roundabout!
  • Yaris D-4D 28 Jul 2002 (Forum)
Am I right in thinking that the Autumn might be a better time to get a deal on this model or is the Import route from Denmark a better option?
  • 440 and 480 engines - please help! 20 May 2002 (Forum)
Hi everyone, seriously important question: Is there any difference between the 440 turbo head and the 480 turbo head. (Both of which are classed as part of the B17FT renault engine and they sure look the same - like that means a lot!).
  • Would you do the job? 16 Apr 2002 (Forum)
There was so little traffic that it didn't make a lot of difference anyway. The driver of a sliver BMW 3 series was obviously too important to slow down so he carried on in the outside line to within about 50 yards of the crash site, and then had to swerve to avoid a policeman who was trying to sort out the mess. Hope they got his number, but would you risk life and limb to do that job?
  • Registration number transfers query 17 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I know that this isn't everso important in the greater scheme of things, but I was wondering whether an original registration number is allocated back to a car when taking a private number off? For example, my car was registered new with a bog-standard V-plate, but me, going through a phase of vanity, had a select reg number put on.
  • Anyone tried using easydyno? (easydyno.com) 16 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Some experimenting would appear to be necessary to set up the PC in the first place. I would guess that it is important that the tape recorder records and plays back at the same speed (ie use the same device). If you have access to a straight flat piece of road with no head/ tail wind it looks as tho you should be able to achieve repeatable results.
