Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 01 1.9 dti - possible change of engine 20 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I currently have a 51 plate Renault Scenic with 1.9 dTi engine. It has what I believe is a problem with the fuel pump or system, and so is a bad starter. The car itself I like (much moreso that the 2003 onwards shape scenic that I have test driven and even more than current or previous Espace models) as I find it very comfortable to sit in and believe it has a good driving position, and I've had this idea that if I'm going to spend £500 on a new fuel pump (which may or may not cure the fault) there is an argument for saying why don't I spend an amount on a new engine (I wish to stick with diesel). -
New Honda Civic (Diesel) 20 May 2006 (Forum)
C class estate is quite appealing, but is probably a bit too pretentious for my job (I'm a self employed specialist electronic engineer and work on-site a lot) and the smaller diesels are not over fuel efficient. I do not like the look of the BMW 3 series. The Honda Accord diesel has fantastic reviews, but the estate is REALLY ugly (IMO). So today by chance, I see the new Civic in a Honda showroom and all of a sudden I think "do I need all the space that my current Passat offers"? -
MPG Caps 16 Feb 2007 (Forum)
but I would like to hear from anyones FIRSTHAND experience of using them. I'm not interested in hearing about diesel magnets, oil additives, multi level marjeting scams, etc, purely anyone who has used MPG CAPS into their fuel tank. cheers folks MTC -
ZX Cold Start (Again) 25 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I have checked the resistance on the old plug behind the pump (that can\'t be removed) and that seems to be ok (offering the same resistance as the other new plugs). So that doesn\'t sound like the problem. I have looked at the fuel leak off pipes on the injectors, but can\'t see anything as the intercooler is in the way. What I can see is that there is an awful lot of what I suspect is old diesel fuel that looks like it is getting blown out of either the rightmost injector / or out of the top of it (as I can see fuel pooled around the base of the injector). -
Focus / CMax 1600ccTDCi - fuel issue / limp home 6 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Hi I have read about a possible issue with the fuel filter becoming easily blocked with emulsion, and the car going into limp home mode. This happened to me and with a fuel error coming up on the diagnostic, we changed the filter and all has been OK. -
55 Ford Focus 1.8 tdci - 55 Focus tdci Bad Fuel Economy 4 Feb 2011 (Forum)
The clutch isn't slipping so I don't think that is a problem and the tyres are at the correct pressure. I have read that a sudden loss of fuel economy can be down to a failing turbo unit? Any ideas anyone? -
Ford - Mondeo IV (2007 -) diesel or petrol 12 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Any views or opinions on the old petrol v diesel debate? If you look at it with an economical head on, the potential 4 grand saving in fuel over 5 years says it all! -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - TDDi 2002 - Fuel Pump problem ? 7 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Not being particularly wealthy, I have now done 2 things (A) looked around on the internet and spoken to Diesel specialists and (B) put a number of questions to the dealer in an email. They seem a little reluctant to respond and confirm that IF I spent all this money, it would absolutely 100% cure the problem :-) In addition, they have also gone a bit 'fuzzy' over my questioning around whether they have actually read the ECU on the Fuel Pump itself, which I am told is very important! -
Pug 306 HDi Fuel Problems - HELP! 21 Jun 2006 (Forum)
It was taken to a Peugeot main dealer who diagnosed failed injectors 1 & 3. As a result all 4 were changed as per Pug procedures. The car still would not fuel or run correctly. The fuel pump was changed, as Peugeot said there could be swarf in the fuel system. No Change. I've got the following info from the dignostics machine to see if anyone can help: Diesel Pressure 290 Bar Injector Quantity 14.1 mm3/l Main Injector 1.7 Idle - 6.2 Flat Injector 4 -2.5 Injector 3 +1.9 Injector 2 -5.0 Injector 1 +5.3 The ECU is coming up with the following fault codes: 1404 - PreHeating or PostHeating Control 0201 - Cylinder No 1 injector or circuit - Open circuit or short to Ground/Battery The car is still not running. -

Freelander 1.8 K-Series Engine Swap 23 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Is it worth the effort? I suppose if you really did want to keep one of these vehicles mobile, a diesel is the obvious choice - a well installed PSA HDi (with proper fuel filtration) would be my preference. 659. sorted 659 PU -

GOLF TDI Bluemotion - Misfuel 3 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I tried to start the engine again but it continued to turn over (even when i let go of the key) but wouldn't catch. Called the roadside assisitance, who ran a diagnosic check and said the issue was fuel pressure? I got towed to the dealership where i purchased the car and they have said the main fuel pump is broken which has affected the leads and sensors?? Anyway they are saying this can be caused by a misfuel, putting unleaded into a diesel. -

Biodiesel Availability 13 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Incidentally the lady who filled up my car understands that there is a possibility of a cut in the rate of duty on this fuel to 5p per litre from 2004/5 (apparently it is around 45 pence per litre on normal diesel).
