'Heavy' oil'? - RickyBoy
Morning all...
Was on the DVLA/Vehicle enquiry pages earlier making a basic check on a Jag XF that is being offered for sale privately.
Fuel type was listed as 'heavy oil'! That's just fancy dan speak these days for diesel right?
Best...

Ricky, you're right on the button there.
Don't know what a car running on light oil might use, though.

The term 'heavy oil' was used for fuel on the registration document for my old diesel Focus.

It's been heavy oil for as a long as I can remember - nothing to do with DVLA fancy dan speak, more to do with classification of vehicles.
Some diesels can also run on recyled veggie oil - so to put "diesel" would be incorrect.

Cheers all. Having never ever owned a diesel the 'term' was unfamiliar to me.
